    Superb boots

This is the second pair of these boots I have had, and they are brilliant - warm, well-fitting and comfortable for alpine peaks, Scottish winter mountaineering and technical ice climbing. Pretty much the definitive winter boot. Like the previous reviewer, I agree that Heather (first review) should have been better advised for going to Nepal, as clearly plastic boots are more appropriate to altitudes above 5000m.

Excellent Boots - quite obviously not for Everest

Unlike the previous review I actually read the description and used the boots appropriately. These are excellent boots, extremely comfy and easy to get a perfect pit as they have locking laceloops. If you're looking for the perfect Scottish Winter or Alpine trekking/ice boots then look no further.

Despite the very misleading name these boots are not recommended for use over 4000 metres. On a recent trip to Nepal at 5930 metres the only two people wearing these boots suffered frostbite requiring hospital treatment. I have contacted the manufacturers who claim they are not recommended over 4000 metres although I cannot find this information on their website. I was taken in by the name and descriptions of suitability for 'high altitude', 'icy mountain terrain' etc but have suffered the consequences of frostbite.
