Flooding

Brought this tent-and mostly a great tent. However this last week was great until it rained the door doesn’t have very secure closing and this resulted in waking at 4 to a tent full of water

Hi Gear Enigma Elite 5

We purchased this tent a few weeks ago, in dry weather and with little wind it is 1st Class.
Used it for the 2nd Time This weekend and in Windy and Rain, yes it was a bad weekend but u don't expect to wake up to a bit of a Flood.
The way the Front Entrance is Pegged down for Night is still allows for Movement and wind to blow it into the Tent resulting in Rain Getting In.
In fact a lot of Rain.
The Tent is Great for Dry Weather Camping, I will be contacting Go Outdoors to talk about a Exchange to the Enigma 4 As the Entrance Doors are a Full Seal.

Hi Gear Enigma Elite 5

This was replacing my old Cabanon Pacific, so didnt expect it to be as good a tent as it turned out to be. Easy to pitch, great quality (especially for the price), and useable as a base in duff weather due to the generous living area. While the tent is marketed as a 5 person, I couldnt see how you could sleep five adults in the bedroom, but two adults and a child fit comfortably, with room to get in and out in the night without walking on anyone's face. Overall, a great tent in every respect, standing room, spacious interior, a dark bedroom so the early morning sun doesnt wake you at 'stupid o'clock'. Very happy with it. Also, excellent service and advice at the Go outdoors Liverpool store, where staff were helpful and patient with me as I flitted from pillar to post deciding which tent to buy, which is impressive service when youre not exactly spending loads of dosh. Thank you to all.

Sorted tent

We bought this to go on motorcycle rallys even though it's a bit bigger than we usually use.
Because we don't have a garden we took it straight to a rally and found some minor faults. The tent performed brilliantly despite these. We bought the bundle deal and used the canopy as well and this was perfect in the hot weather as a shaded area.
Well worth the money and go outdoors exchanged the tent straight away.
Chesterfield staff 5 star service.

Great small family tent

This tent was great, easy and quick to put up. We have a little boy and there was plenty of sleeping room, you can fit 2 double air beds in so plenty of room for all three of us. And there is ample space in the front for all your gear !!!! Love it !!!!

Elite 5 tent

We are 2 pensioners and have bought this tent and canopy and love it.we have been twice and have booked our 3rd trip .only thing I would like is a fly net.hopefully go outdoors will help us with that. But all in all lovely.

Completely useless bags

The tents seemed ok after a weekend camp in hot dry weather so cannot comment on how well it keeps out the rain. The problem started when we tried to pack it up. The poles are too long for the supplied bag and the new 'easy pack' bag is pretty useless and is basically just a couple of straps that wrap around the tent. If you want your tent to last without loosing bits out you will need to buy a separate bag to keep it in.

Great small family tent

I purchased this for me and my 3 girls to go camping. Was easy to pitch with 7 and 9year old help and even easier to pack away.
Spacious roomy tent we also bought the canopy but didn't take this on our first trip and would agree with other reviews about this being handy as the rain did come in a little through the door.
Loved the dark sleeping area and the fact it was see through at night meant i could keep an eye on our dog in the main part and still be dark enough to sleep.
Looking forward to many an adventure!!

2 years old

We bought this for our very first camping trip in 2016 and thought it may be useful to review it after plenty of use (more than 20 trips, rain, wind and sun).
As a couple with 3 children aged 7, 3 & 1 and a dog I can agree with others that it's not really a 5 birth, maybe 2 adults and 2 children max for comfort. We can fit in 2 singles and 1 double airbed and squash together which is great for warmth but causes condensation.
We love the porch and would never consider using the tent without it. We add a wind breaker over the front in bad weather. Easy to pitch/re-pack. Waterproof, fairly small bags so easy to store/transport.
We bought a Frontier 6 berth last year for more space but decided it wasn't worth the hassle pitching it and prefer the Enigma although we are very quickly outgrowing it unfortunately.
Great starter/small family tent. Ours is still mint condition after many trips.

Love love love

I'm a single mum me and my 2 boys went to stay a 5 hour drive away from home and loved every minute i personally LOVE the big front door!!! I would get a porch next time we go though as it rained the whole holiday and was annoying trying get shoes on and off without bringing outside in.
I love the tunnel tent design as it makes for a more spacious less claustrophobic feel everyone thought i was mad going on my own with 2 small boys but so easy to put up by myself i dont know what everyone was going on about a great affordable holiday thanks hi gear!! And go outdoors i guess??????

Good Tent

We are Londoners who don't do outdoor holidays. So camping for us was totally out of the box..the staff in the shop were a great help. Myself a 10yr old and a 14yr old managed to put this our first ever tent up by ourselves in around 30mins. It gave us enough room and we really enjoyed sleeping in it on our camp beds (managed to only fit 3 standard ones in). Had a bit of condensation in the mornings but this wasn't an issue. The rain getting in was a bit of a problem but nothing major to spoil our trip... there is a flap to attach to the sides to reduce this issue anyway...we only found it towards the end of the trip..lol....but anyway I highly recommend this tent.

Great size tent

The quality goes without saying this value for money Large Tent gives lots of room for a small family or for two on tour, enough space to sit in when the rain comes in

Great Starter Tent

Bought this tent bundle for a camping trip to Loch Ness. It was adequately spacious for 2 adults, a teenager and a dog. However I would have preferred more space and definitely wouldn’t class it as a 5 man tent. It stood strong, didn’t let in any water and was relatively easy to put up and take down. I think the front awning is a must if you purchase this tent. It extends your space and prevents rain getting in from the front door which is a complete design fail as other reviewers have stated. I can easily see how the front entrance would let in a lot of water in heavy rainfall. Overall the tent felt airy, light and cosy though for me it lacked ventilation, we had a lot of condensation in the tent. I think the fact that it wasn’t roomy enough for 3 of us and had little ventilation meant we had a lot of condensation. I was disappointed there weren’t any mesh panels you could zip up at the entrance or window to allow airflow and ventilation and keep insects out.

Only one problem

I love this tent, plenty of space, pretty, easy to put up, sturdy, full of light - although NO WAY is it suitable for 5 people. A couple, at most. I love it so much that I hate to find fault with it.
The only fault, though, is a big one.
Who the hell designed the front door?
a. There is only one guy rope on it, and it's BIG door - the whole of the front of the tent. I had to add extra guy ropes either side.
b. it slopes outward, which lets rain in and wastes space because
c. There is no zip at the bottom - instead there is a silly, fiddly, and pretty useless arrangement of toggles, which have to be done up from the inside, fiddling around getting hands muddy - and the side zips catch in them, too. There is a flap which is supposed to keep the rain out, but because there is no zip, if there is any breeze, it just folds flat, and water pours in. You have to learn to prop something high, like a suitcase, against it, to keep it upright (then your suitcase gets wet) and it let wind in, very badly, as well as insects. I could never let my little dog off his lead in case he bolted out of it.A really stupid design which spoils an otherwise perfect tent.

Great tent

I bought this as a replacement for a 4 man, seems a little lavish as it's usually only me staying in it :-) I only camp a few times a year at festivals when I play and really wanted a tent I could stand in to get changed easily. I'm quite tall and this has enough head room for me. I was able to put it up myself in about 15 minutes (granted it is a little easier if you have another pair of hands). The only slight criticism is that if it is raining hard, you can get a little water in the front of the porch due to the design of the door. This is stated though in the write up and would easily be solved by having a gazebo or porch extension. I'm really happy with it and would recommend.

Superb tent

Purchased with a bundle of a carpet, footprint and canopy...and would recommend the bundle is purchased because the footprint prevented mud getting all over the tent base, the carpet made it much more comfortable and the canopy stopped rain getting into the tent when we opened the door and also gave us so much more room. Easy to erect and completely waterproof. Used top cashback for extra discount.

Excellent spacious living

purchased this tent for my parents to come along and try camping with us.. what a great buy spacious and big bedroom area and living area
Easy to put up 3 poles and your away took us less then 15 minutes
The easy to pack away bag is Great too as made packing away at the end so much easier (we have the kalahari 10 take bit longer lol)
Overall would recommend this to all and my parents now have the camping bug and bought all sorts now all the need now is a bigger car!!!

Plenty of room for 2

Great tent, wouldn't say its big enough for 5, my 70 year old Mother went camping for the first time in this, I'm 48 female and put this tent up easily by self in the pouring rain in about 25 mins.. bought extra pack of pegs and used most of them, nice roomy tent for 2 people, well ventilated, why it only has 4 stars is while I was putting the tent up in the rain, at the base of the door the toggles that hold it down were not done up hence a puddle of water ended up inside but was easily cleaned up also wish I had bought an extra ground sheet and the add on porch front.

Enigma 5 Elite tent

Just bought this tent last week to use over the weekend which was a total washout, rain poured in through the bottom of the door I quickly realised I should have bought the porch when I had the opportunity but didn't think I needed it.
Went back to go outdoors today to be told the nearest porch is 120 miles away in Edgeware and they can't order me one in as they don't do store to store transfer.
I guess the moral is if you buy this tent please get the porch or buy yourself a good pair of wellies because if it rains you will get wet feet.
