A great selection of jackets to choose from at Go Outdoors, but I’m surprised that with the leading brands there are so few without hoods.
The Rab Altus is perfect for my requirements, being lightweight, windproof and not too bulky. It slides on easily over other clothing, where others tended to grip. I also prefer the slightly elasticated wrist design rather than adjustable Velcro used by other brands.
Aesthetically it’s a well-designed jacket which I hope will prove durable over time.

Bought the coat Dec 18, wore around 6 times and the inside of the zip seam tore, as it was out of the 30 day replacement it went back to Rab, 4 weeks without a coat and it was repaired, wore it 4 more times and it tore again in the exact same place!!!
Been waiting another 2 weeks for Rab to decide.
Would never buy another Rab jacket, ridiculous Rab waiting times just to even look at the jacket never mind trying to repair.

This jacket is really light to wear but very warm. good design and fits perfectly the deep pockets are great for keeping gloves in or just for hand warming

Absolutely love this jacket. It is light enough manoeuvre around easily whilst being warm enough during the coldest of days.

I bought the jacket only very recently and have only worn it the once to date. It was a cold and windy day but the jacket kept me toasty warm ( wearing a thin lightweight fleece as a baselayer beneath). It is very comfortable and looks good, whether out on the hills or round town. The materials used are great, especially the Cirrus insulation. I have only given it 4 stars for two reasons: a) I cannot yet comment on how durable it will be, or how it performs in wetter conditions; and b) the sizing and fit is not perfect for me (5'6" and 39" chest) - I bought a size small which is a bit snug (I maybe need to lose a kilo or two), but the next size up was far too long and baggy. On the whole though, I am very satisfied with the jacket and look forward to wearing it often.

Very pleased with the jacket in the few cold days we've had since buying it. Snug fit around the waist and long sleeves to cover my hands when necessary. Insulation good and sheds water readily in light showers.Only minor problem has been occasional catching of the zip in the lining.

The jacket is smart, lightweight and feels very warm. I'll test it some more over the coming days. Absolute bargain at the sale price and I reckon that for the English climate the artificial fill is better then real down and easier to wash for regular wear.

You don't need anything but a tshirt underneath as its so warm yet it's lightweight. Colour was better in real life than the photo too. Very much worth the money

Keeps you a lot warmer than you would think but isn't to stuffy if you are wearing indoors or in car. A very well balanced jacket all in all.

I would highly recommend this product from Rab.
