Men's Footwear Size Guide

Measuring tips

Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.

Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.

Remember, feet can expand over a quarter size during a full day's walk so ensure you get the right fit.

Used a few times...

Used a few times now and comfortable, although it's early days but the lace hooks don't seem to be as strong as other boots I've used.

Very wet feet!

My husband bought these in 2019. We do not do heavy walking but mainly across Common land with the dog. Ok for the first winter but now they are really letting in the water. Disappointing!

Bought these somthing like 4 or 5 years ago. I wear them when I go walking with the dog, often do about 5 miles away and now they have only just started to break. Brilliant pair of boots.

Sore feet after just one wear

Bought in Dec 2020. Worn for first time Sunday 7th February ‘21 and went on a 3 mile walk - I’m crippled ever since and I’m sore round ankles and lower leg - these are poor quality- I’d like a refund.

Surprisingly robust. Great value

Had them over a year, and have worn them hillwalking, birdwatching and through the odd marsh. V. comfy, haven't let me down so far. Had low expectations from brand, proven very wrong. Recommended.

Good boot

Had the boots about 3 months and after doing 9 munro in the Highlands in all weathers I can say I'm quite happy with the boots for what I paid.
The only flaw I found was the boot shreds laces easily.

Great value for money

I had these boots for 18 months
.kinder scout
Nantyll ridge walk wales
Snowden horse shoe,Tryfan and the glyders scrambling
And the inka trail 45km. Never let me down. Worn out now .bought again.

Quite comfy to wear but waterproofing a big let down

I found the boots quite wide fitting, but after only 5 months they have started letting in water and within a week now letting in water very badly.

Excellent value

Had these boots 1 year walked summer and winter in Peak District and Lake District. Regular 10 milers up the hills in wet weather and uneven surfaces. Never let me down and feet always dry.

Second pair of Hi-Gear boots but massive drop in quality.

There's so little grip they're actually dangerous to walk in, even in summer conditions. They let water in much easier the previous HiGear boots and the lace hooks eat shoe laces for fun! Never again!

Poor durability

This is the second pair of these I have bought. The first lasted years untill the side seam split. The second pair was rubbish the heel wore through in less than a year. Not the same quality.

Great boot

I've had these nearly 12 months they took a bit of breaking in but now are comfortable waterproof in long wet grass and have great grip on wet & icey surfaces .
I walk my dog in them every day.

Great First Walking Boot

Only had the boots for three weeks but I’ve been walking in all kinds of weather from heat-waves to downpours, across tracks, gravel, grass, roads, muddy paths and much more.

The boots have kept my feet dry through mud, long wet grass and tracks that were pouring with water; they are amazingly comfortable being padded inside.

They’ve been a great “first boot”.
Highly recommended.

Hi Gear Mens Snowdon Boots

Worst pair of boots I have ever bought, had them 6 months or more but still do not want to wear them, perhaps worn 15 times but have renewed the laces 3 times. The lace hooks are savage as will not tighten the lace up and the upper boot wall rubs your legs sore, bad purchase.

Hi Gear Snowden mens walking boots.

Originally got the Hi Gear Derwent boots but had them replaced with no fuss after 24 hours as they were pinching, excellent work Poole store. Swapped them next day for the Hi Gear Snowden leather waterproof boots and so comfy out of the box and loosened up a treat after a 6 mile dog walk. Haven't tested the waterproofing yet but for the price an absolute bargain, highly recommended and a good store at Poole to boot, pun intended.

Great Boots

Wear these boots ever day on my morning walk, had a few pairs over the years. Very comfortable, highly recommended.

Poorly made

Stitching came away to reveal a big gap in these boots within 3 months with minimal use. I wouldn’t recommend buying these boots.

Dangerous walking shoe

Do not buy had plenty on warning as to how poor these shoes are in mud and still carried on wearing them. Now in hospital with a crippling injury due to terrible grip in a loose surface. They should be removed from sale they are a disgrace.
