Fab Product

We purchased this extension to use when we take breaks which last longer than 2/3 nights, as a family of 5 the tent is plenty big enough on it's own for weekends but we wanted extra space for week long holidays.
After visiting Cornwall for a week in April we are very impressed with the way it held up.
When we arrived the winds were much too high to put the tent and the awning up and so we saved the awning for the following day. Once the winds died down it was simple to put up and made a huge difference to the amount of space we had to use.
Over the week the wind picked up. We debated taking the awning down "just in case" but chose to keep an eye on it and the weather.
I believe due to the wind direction and the the use of much stronger pegs the awning held it's own after quite a large battering.
A great product!

Tent extension works and fits great creating a perfect sheltered cooking area for the typical British summer. The extension does need additional securing down as there is no way to weight it down, I use the big corkscrew anchors with extra straps. In high winds I unzip the door slightly in order to reduce the pressure which seems to work.

Extension acts like a sail an complete disaster!!

Do not purches this extension as it acts as a sail in any wind. This is due to the design, gaps either side where the extension connects to the tent. This allows air to funnel through into the tent creating a huge parachute!!
It pushed the tent in to the air meanwhile two grown men are pulling it down and a women and child are inside, the whole tent went across the field like tumble weed ,if the extension wasn't fitted the tent would have still been standing . The weight of the extension on the original tent poles just caused strain and pulled the bedrooms down completely.
So disappointed with this extension, wish we would have seen the previous review before we bought it .An expensive disaster!!!!!!!!Completely fails the Oak Canyon 6!!!

Simple and spacious

Spacious and very simple to add on to the main tent. Gives much needed additional space for larger groups with more equipment. would highly recommend buying this to create more space for a table and chairs combo. very happy with the purchase

Big and sturdy

last year we purchased the Oak Canyon 6 tent and used it for a number of weekend camps (great tent!!). This year we're going on a week long trip so wanted to extend the tent so this is just the ticket. Used it for the first time this weekend, it is perfect, the steel poles mean that it is very easy to set-up and it is very sturdy and BIG!

Roomy with extra living space

Used the tent a few times before we added the extension and it makes a world of difference, especially on rainy days, gives you so much more living/cooking space.

Fit this and wind will down your tent

Moderate wind snapped all of the steel poles on my tent collapsing it on my sleeping 5 year old. This is 100% due to the design of the extension.

The extension attaches to the tent with 4 straps on the poles. Wind goes under the flap, inflating the extension like a huge sail, putting all the station on the main tent poles. First of all the bedroom collapsed then the steel poles snapped. Once I removed the extension the main tent re-erected itself, even with broken poles. I then realised the error in the design.

We returned it for the airgo stratus which has a fully zipped in extension completely negating the issue of wind.
