Don’t usually buy combos, but looked a reasonable set up at a reasonable price.
When I put the rod together for the 1st time I could hear the ferrel cracking so after further inspection I noticed that there was no reinforcement of the ferrel section, the wall thickness is the same as the rest of the bottom half of the rod. The line on the reel is pants. Not the Shakespeare quality of the past. Anyhow Go Outdoors Chester exchanged without issue and I bought an Abu Garcia Devil Spin 9ft Rod and a Diawa sweepfire 4000 reel which is a different class set up and will last for years to come for an extra £20 on top of the cost of the Shakespeare combo.
