Don't bother

I've ordered this numerous times and it's been cancelled, it's a right waste of time, why not remove the listing for Purchase until its available instead of taking the money then refunding it. Useless

Great bit of kit

Easier set up after a few uses, there is a technique - put the centre cross-strut in first. Firm, comfy, stable, can be sat on without tipping!
Could be a tad wider but I have no faults with it

Ruined by sewn seams digging in causing discomfort

I found it uncomfortable lying on my side as the canvas has 2 horizontally sewn seams about halfway down which creates tension across the bed at roughly hip height causing a ridge which digs in.

Excellent choice for motorbike camping

Packs away super small, light weight and comfortable. OK so look, I'm not exactly small and I bought one for a trip to Germany but took an air mat expecting this cot to break at some point. Well it didn't and I'm still using it. £69 seems like a lot to begin with but just consider how much use you get from one over even just one season. Mine didn't smell at all. Yes it does need some strength and technique to assemble it.

I have tried just about every type of sleeping system on the market over the years, primarily for wilderness camping, I have always hoped that a low slung camp bed, that would lift me off the ground to avoid the cold radiating through the ground sheet was small enough to fit into a two-man tent and had enough support feet to stop the bed making holes in the ground sheet. Well, I think I have found it; the OEX cot is well made assembles quickly (a little awkward when you put it up for the first time as everything is new and stiff). Small packing size makes it easy to stow away in my sea kayak. I have not used it in the field yet, but I am hoping to do so before the end of the year...I will write another review then....

Nice, but not for me

I bought this as a replacement for one of the cheap 12.50 ones hoping it would be easier to set up. It isn't - you need a fair bit of strength to get it assembled. I'd hoped for the price either me or my 12 year old daughter would be able to put it up without relying on my hubbie to help. It's as comfy as the cheap one (actually a tad narrower). It packs up nicely and it's light, but for me wasn't worth the huge price difference, so I returned it.

OEX Ultralite Folding Cot

Great product, lightweight, very well made and extremely sturdy, we have 2 and have no problems with smell, that didn't disappear after a short airing before use and didn't affect our sleep. Really comfy to sleep on, we added a self inflating roll mat also, for added comfort, this didn't slip off and made it all the more luxurious. A little pricey but worth it. Much better than sleeping on the floor with just a self inflating roll mat and much more reliable than a pump up bed. Try it yourself in the shop.

A very sturdy, lightweight camp bed. Perfect... almost!

I’ve got a similar type of steel framed camp bed already but even so, the first time I assembled this one, it was a little bit of a faff. The holes in the bed fabric for getting the side rails in are quite small, but once I’d read the instructions and found them everything went together firmly. Before purchase I admit I was a little suspicious of the build quality, particularly the legs and how they clip onto the side rails but I needn’t have worried, it makes an incredibly sturdy bed. The fabric is very heavy duty and the plastic fittings feel like very good quality, long lasting items. The spacious carry bag is made from the same heavy fabric and the zips, webbing and stitching all look reassuringly robust.

Like most camp beds, it’s much more comfortable than just a closed-cell, self-inflating or, worse, inflatable mattress. I’m 90kg and have arthritis in my back, so just being raised off the floor a few inches makes all the difference in getting up in the morning too.

And just when you’d think things couldn’t get better, the small pack size and weight is incredible. It’s less than half the weight and half the packed size of my steel framed bed. As I bought this primarily for motorcycle camping trips those weight and space savings are very useful - it’s absolutely ideal for my intended purpose.

For me there could be only one improvement. I’d like a slightly wider version, 80cm rather than 60cm. It wouldn’t add much to the weight or size and for a restless side sleeper like myself, the extra room for manoeuvre would be great. I’d be happy to product test that idea free of charge OEX!

Good product but the material smells bad

I bought three of these beds, after testing it out in store. Great price and goes together well (Good copy of the much more expensive Helinox) unfortunately the material used is backed with a rubber that really stinks. I hung all three up in the garage for over a week but they stilled smelled equally as bad (headache inducing). I have now returned them but I hope to purchase again if the material is changed.
