A tough and stable semi-geodesic expedition tent, with excellent headroom and a useful front porch area.

The OEX Bandicoot II Tent is built for fast-pitching, easy packing expedition use, but doesn't skimp on comfort. It weighs next to nothing, and most importantly packs down to a size that won't slow you down.

Its semi-geodesic design, robust flysheet and groundsheet and Yunan poles make it tough enough for stormy weather. Yunan T6 tent poles boast Japanese grade aluminium and bespoke Korean engineering, made to perform in all conditions whilst maintaining their integrity over many years of use.

The pre-attached groundsheet makes pitching easy and keeps insects out, whilst the compact front porch gives you loads of room to store your wet kit and boots. The durable poly flysheet won't falter in arduous conditions - it's very waterproof (rated to 5000mm) and treated with a fire-retardant coating which will self-extinguish if exposed to flame.

Angled pole ferrules increase the porch height so you get the best use of your covered area.

Cracker

I've used the bandicoot on quite a few occasions, it's not let me down in some very nasty weather in machynlleth, can't fault it really for price, excellent piece of kit

Waterproof and compact

I bought this for solo cycle touring, It isn’t as light as some of the more expensive tents but it is waterproof and holds it’s shape in wind. It is easy to put up. I like space for me and my panniers and all my stuff so this was ideal - personally I think it would be tight for 2 cycle touring, but then travelling light isn’t my forte. I am a big fan of OEX tents for quality and value (with a slight compromise on weight) I have the Coyote III for cycle touring with one other which I love as it is so spacious but I have to say I think this Bandicoot II being so low to the ground and with fewer doors withstands wind better.

Took a beating!

Survived a night of 60mph winds and 4inch snow and freezing rain on Carneddau.

Can be a bit of a pain putting up in high winds but we managed.

Pretty cozy for two adults and a collie.

Small two man or large solo.

I have used this with my 11 year old daughter a few times and as a solo multiple times, both on the mountains and in camp sites. It’s a wee bitty tight on space for two with mats and packs etc.

Good points. This tent comes in two waterproof roll top sacks, meaning the weight can be spread between two very easily.

With a 5000mm hydrostatic head it’s very waterproof and will withstand a torrential down pour easily.

It withstand 50-60mph winds with ease.

Very good size lined porch for storing wet kit and for cooking, the main door also zips down so you can get extra ventilation whilst not allowing the rain in when cooking.

Very comfortable for one.

Negative points

Very tight on space if there are two of you.

Rather heavy if using as a solo.

A bit of a faf to put up in the wind as you can’t pre attach the inner to the fly so must be put up in two sections.

All in all, I would recommend if your after a large solo that can accommodate two occasionally.

Exceeded expectations

This is a great little tent. It is well made, has some great features such as reflective guys, thick but light pegs and good internal pouches.
This is not the largest tent in the world(but I knew this when I bought it) so I bought a gear store for the times where a little extra room is necessary.

Overall I would highly recommend.

Great Tent

Took this with me on the Pennine Way in June and it was excellent. It withstood all weathers high wind, rain, snow and ice with no problems at all. No condensation inside even on coldest night thanks to good ventilation. Plenty of room in the front section for cooking and plenty of room inside for a single person plus kit. I'm over six foot and had no problem. Quick to set up and take down, useful that you can dismantle and pack away inner tent before flysheet when its raining too. A tiny bit heavier than some but worth it with the extra room you get. Only minor drawback I found was it could do with a bit more Velcro at the top of the outer door, fixed that by adding a bit of my own though... All in all a great tent for the price.

Can't fault it

Great tent, easy to assemble on my own. enough space in front cavity for my bag and and shoes, tent is roomy with inner compartments, great for storing torch and other parts. slightly heavy but nothing a backpacker can't handle. Highly recommend this product
