Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.
Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.
Remember, feet can expand over a quarter size during a full day's walk so ensure you get the right fit.
Great shoes. They look great and fit well. A good strong shoe that gives support throughout the foot especially with the long lace area. Would recommend trying them on in store as previous comments have queried the sizing.
Very comfortable and very supportive out of the box. I was warned that Garmont make narrow shoes, so thought that these would be good - was very difficult to track down a pair. Originally spotted on Go Outdoors and had to look elsewhere as none of the local shops stocked them. Eventually found a pair in York.
Shame Go Outdoors don't stock the half sizes as I could do with a half size up. Will probably order a pair of the Dragontail MNT shoes in a half size larger, but great shoes.
The lacing gives a very snug fit, I found after a day or two that they were too tight - they seem to tighten up around the toe every time you lace them, need to slacken them off before you put them on. I thought I'd made a mistake after buying these before I realised, slackened laces at the toe and back to being super comfortable.
Like a pair of slippers - fab
First pair of Garmont footwear I’ve owned and I’m super impressed
From mountain boots to climbing shoes I’ve always been a sucker for scarpa but on this trip to gooutdoors the garmont dragontail lt caught my eye. A good design, comfy and up there stiffness for an approach shoe which really was what I was after.
I used them strait away traversing coastal rock which I’d usually use a climbing shoe for but felt really comfortable and agile in these. Although garmont do half sizes, gooutdoors only stocked full sizes at the time of purchase, I was happy with the size but as I headed strait to Costa Rica the a 1/2 size up would have been better in the Hotter climate but I expect there will be a bit of stretch from more wear. If not I wouldn’t hesitate to by a half size up of the same shoe for hotter climates and save these for the uk. A***
Very impressed with my Garmont shoes. Bought them to go abroad where a boot would have been hot to wear. Walked for a number of hours with no blisters, straight out of the box. They provide good support, and have a reasonably stiff sole, so are great for scrambling. Would definitely buy them again. Only downside for me was they weren't available in half sizes when I purchased them (not sure if they make them in half sizes or not) but the next size up is certainly good enough.
Comfy. Easy to get a good fit (due to lacing all the way down the shoe).
Don't get as much feedback as from trail running shoes, but still get a feel for what the ground is doing beneath you.
Generally OK grip, but very slippy on wet rock.
