I have been searching for a coat that keeps you warm when stood still for 2 hours in a freezing cold stadium with its own sub zero climate. Hours of reading finds very little on this issue - mainly for walking, climbing etc.
So those of you in the same predicament as me - this is the coat for you. Personally tested by me at Odsal Stadium, 03/02/2019 - wind chill included. Warm as toast and water repellent too. The BUT and the reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 - fiddly zip.

Very good but . . .
Bought this as a better underjacket for my ancient Barbour but have found myself wearing this on its own instead on most occasions. It has just the right amount of insulation for a British winter and is windproof too. The sleeves seal nicely round the cuffs and the pockets have a soft lining to make it feel snug. The but, is how long the zip will last! It a real pain to get it started and IMHO they should have used one that was a bit more rugged. BTW I've had the jacket for about a year now. If you try one on just make sure you're happy with the zip.

At first I was extremely pleased with this jacket, it was warm and light, the zip was a bit fiddly at times but not a big problem.
Washed it after being in a smoky environment, following all the instructions and it retained all it's properties, however after washing it for a second time after a coffee spill the filling seemed to disappear from some panels and go into hard lumps in others, all the relevant instructions were followed as before but the jacket will not return to it's original condition, it's only fit for the bin.

Brought this jacket a few days ago in preparation for the winter dog walking. Initial impression are good, lightweight is not an overstatement. Never seen a jacket so light and very warm on early autumn chilly evenings and mornings Seems to be a good investment, time will tell.

Does what it says on the tin.
Bought this just before the beast from the East arrived so it had a good testing.
Found it warm, even when taking the dogs out early morning.

kathmandu men's epiq jacket
So I took the missus into Go Outdoors to get a warm jacket without a hood, we asked the lovely lady in the Sheffield store and she pointed us to a couple of jackets but we both liked the look of the Kathmandu Epiq.
My wife tried it on and straight away it looked good, fitted well and felt great (she told me) I then made the manly mistake of asking if they did a version for men and I was quickly shown to the same jacket for blokes. Considering we were there for a jacket for her indoors (sorry . . her outdoors) my second mistake was to try it on.
i have a RAB jacket and it is fab but too warm really for the not quite freezing days we are getting. I have to say that the Kathmandu felt amazing, light, stylish and snug.
Apart from the daggers in the back I was getting from Anne I "lurved" this jacket and definitely wanted it. I asked Anne if she minded me having one as well and with a grimace (which I took to be a warm smile of welcome) she said she didnt mind.
Now we both have the jacket and we love them, they are ideal for walking our 3 dogs and being black they clean off the mud very easily. We've been out on very cold days with just a couple of thin base layers and the jackets have coped admirably.
I can fully recommend this jacket but guys, get yours first and then suggest your missus might like one as well, not the other way round like I did it
