Ideal for easy weekends on the campsite or at festivals, the Coleman Kentmere 3 Plus is an extended dome tent with a large porch that uses Coleman’s 'BlackOut Bedroom' technology to promise you a better night's sleep.

Survived Download festival

Took the first one I bought back as it had lots of small scattered pinholes in the roof, A common fault apparently. Exchanged it for another and it survived Download festival, blackout is 85%.

Good little tent

Had this tent for 3 years, it's had some heavy usage, re-proofed it once, sturdy in a storm. The blackout is effective and helps reduce the oven effect on a hot summer morning. Would recommend

Not blackout

Quite easy to put up and fairly sturdy However the blackout technology only covers 80% of the inside , the mesh to make it breathable let's light through so I would not recommend for the blackout

Coleman Kentmere 3 Plus.

We used this tent to camp in mid wales for a few nights whilst fishing. It was perfect. Compact and light in its stuff sack. I never put the tent up before we left so i had no idea what i was doing.
However with that in mind it took me less than 15 minutes to errect it alone. There is a great “porch” to the front of the tent. Ideal for trainers or bags, fishing tackle...storage which then leaves you with a tonne of room inside the tent. There was only me and my girlfriend inside the tent but it was spacious. I was suprised at how well ventilated the tent was yet doesnt let draft in.. there was no condensation problems at all.

Great v light tent

This tent s great. We’ve downsized from a 7 man tent to this three man which we wanted because the kids wanted to be able to carry it on walks. It’s excellent - very light. Very very easy to erect. Inner sections first and then top section. The instructions are fastened into the carry bag so you’ll never lose them. And the porch is a great asset we stored our bags boots and a dog in there and could still get out when we needed to. Love the windows which meant while the others slept I could sit in the porch and look out. The dark bedroom is fantastic. My son really didn’t wake up til 9 which is so unlike him when we camp. All in all just excellent all round.

Coleman Kentmere 3 Person

Bought at Basingstoke for a short notice camping holiday to France. Last one in stock.

Went to erect tent for first time aboard and found it had been used - outside base of tent and end of some of the poles muddy.

Panic struck expecting to find bits missing, but luckily not - ok, should have checked at home but only 2 days notice of trip.

Disappointed to have bought a tent which was probably a 'return item' - something I will followup with Go Outdoors

Tent wise - really happy al was ok and it was relatively easy to erect single handed. Like to the 'black out' option which meant I wasnt waking at up 4am !!

Would I buy tent again ? Absolutely yes, based on 10 day's use in a heavy rain and sunny conditions.

Amazing tent

I have taken this tent to Wales on two occasions since purchase. On the second trip there was the worse storm I have ever experienced while camping. It was hurricane winds and rain but not a single drop of water came inside the tent.

It's very easy to erect, and very sturdy. The headroom is perfect for sitting upright getting things done inside. The black interior is great for keeping the light out when getting your head down. The window blinds are great for being able to have the choice of privacy.

You can feel the thought that's gone into the design of this tent. I can highly recommend it for all weathers and conditions.

The fortress

Recently bought this tent for a 5 day camping holiday in Cornwall. Excelled in quality during all all extreme weather conditions. We experienced everything from strong winds to heavy rainfall and even a mini heatwave, never did it fault. The inside blackout system works perfectly keeping it cool of a day and warm in the evenings. Fantastic size, fitted a double blow up bed, two rucksacks etc. Great purchase worth every penny!

Perfect Design,Poor Quality

Our first Coleman tent and definitely our last. This tent seemed perfect for us, the right pack size to fit in our vary small boot, 3 man which always means sleeps 2 comfortably, a small porch for boots etc and quick to put up. It was when we went to put it up that the poor quality showed. One of the fitment casing on the poles was already split and you could clearly see where these had been joined together so it was just a matter of time before they all did this. We have an another flexipole tent and the quality of poles just does not compare. The tent has a black out inner which was very useful as when you lay down in it you could see all the small wholes in the outer tent. The tent bucket ground sheet was almost transparent in three areas. I'm pretty sure that in a very short space of time it would have let in water. All in all so disappointed as it was just what we wanted size wise. Also for a tent with such a high hydrostatic head it was very reasonably prices, and this was a major consideration as it would not be used for our main camping holidays but just for the odd spur of the moment night away. As it is it's been up in our garden for 10 mins and will be returned to the store tomorrow. The old adage you get what you pay for rings true.

Great Festival Tent

Brilliant, quick to put up tent. Black out bedroom was excellent and helped our little one sleep a few hours more.
Only 4 stars for the size. A squeeze for 2 adults and 1 child, our luggage had to go on the porch at night times. Other than that, a great buy!

OK but...

I've used Coleman peripheral products for years but never bought their tents until this year. I bought a Rocky Mountain 5 Plus tent as well as this model.
I'm not sure whether '3 plus' refers to quality or quantity? If the latter then 2.5 plus would be more accurate; two adults and a child would be more than enough for comfort (just myself + Dachshund is cosy). It's ok but compared to my Khyam Igloo tent about 2/3 the size.
The selling point for me was 'blackout bedrooms'. It's a great idea and a long time in coming. However, 85% blackout is more accurate. The inner tent's ventilation mesh allows light to seep in from the porch. It's dark but not completely. I'm writing this inside the tent at 13.30 in full sun and the temperature is definitely lower than outside, so that's a plus.
Too soon to say how it handles in wind and rain. My guess (from 40 years of experience) is that it will handle rain well and moderate/fairly strong winds - I wouldn't like to chance a gale in an exposed place! But pretty sturdy (don't be put off though!).
It's an inner first tent so solo assembly in strong wind could be tricky (flapping flysheet syndrome.
Build quality is acceptable, not Force Ten standard but for general use (and the price) OK.
All in all I rather like the tent. Be aware that this is 2 or 2.5 person tent and not 3 (unless you're very intimate). Other than that (after 1 hour's use!) no major problems.
