Evolution can take a long time, thankfully the Calibre team are quick to act - let the fun begin!

Lots of small changes have come together to make one big change and produce a new class killer, the Calibre Bossnut Evo.

Having listened to the many magazine reviews, team riders, and customers, Calibre have updated their Bossnut V2 with a view to making the best even better.

The frame stays with its superb geometry but now features both internal and external stealth dropper post routing, letting you choose whichever suits your style.

Rock Shox Recon RL forks are now fitted, still with 130mm travel and 15mm bolt through, but they are stiffer than the previous forks and give greater control in changes of direction and tracking your lines.

A 1x11 SRAM NX drive chain provides simplicity for the rider, yet still gives a huge range of gear ratios to clear any climb. Like everything in life, what’s better than 10? That’s right, turn it up to 11!

Each Bossnut has proven to be a fast bike, so powerful and responsive braking is now even more important. Covering this, the Evo has been fitted with Shimano MT500 brakes – a proven stopper.

Handlebars are a personal choice but several reviews sited the originals as needing to change, so it now comes fitted with a Kore Durox 780mm bar with 5 degree up and 8.5 degree back sweep.

The WTB ST rims now have an increased internal width of 29mm, giving greater strength but also a much better tyre profile which also offers more compliance.

Giving much more grip that lets you ride faster and harder, the Vigilante front tyre is now paired with the WTB Trail Boss tyre, making the Bossnut Evo even more of a trail weapon.

Brilliant to ride, when it's not broken!

Title says it all. Owned for 15 months now and have had such a lot of bother, Some of the parts they hang off this thing are garbage. Not helped by the assembly and aftercare. Factor in extra costs.

Great value and service

I an older version of the bike and I've been very happy with it. For the issues I've had both gooutdoors and calibre bikes themselves have been very helpful.

Great bike only 1 issue

It was the last one and was on display. All in all fantastic bit of kit but had the crank bolt missing, this can be replaced with FSA M18 bolts as the original is hard to obtain due to being Chinese.

SO MUCH BIKE FOR THE PRICE!

I had been looking for good off road bike and with £1k budget, was looking mainly high end 29ers (Cube/Whyte) as most reliable full sus are £1.5k upwards, then I found this top sec just not a big name

Bossnut EVO ‘the best bike under £1k’

My review is pretty simple.

This is the best bike under £1k, fact!

If you don’t buy one, then you are more silly than Donald Trumps hair.

A fantastic bike for the money. #ridecalibre

Great bike but needs a bit of tweaking

Good Bike, Poorly Built - cables and derailleur

Good bike and fun to go out on trails with, but came built not 100 percent properly causing my derailleur to break and leave me having to buy a new one.

Service poor - good bike.

Bike is good, just had problems with de-railer and took to another branch to fix, still no good. Took it to Halfords who praised bile - just said had been put together poorly as cables ran poorly.

Overall great bike. Infuriating tubeless rims

This is a brilliant value bike. Great spec and a joy to ride. The first time you come to repair a puncture, however, you will wish you'd never been born. The tubeless tyres are _impossible_ to remove. Sure there may be a knack to it, but I can't do it and the two mates I'd been out with couldn't do it. Budget for replacing the wheels if you want to spare yourself a _lot_ of pain and frustration. On a plus note, shorty after buying it, it developed a creak, which I couldn't track down. Took it back to GO Leeds and they took the thing apart, greased everything and put it back together. Great service! Apparently there wasn't enough grease in the rear bushings. So, ace bike, brilliant geometry and cracking spec but those rims will have you howling for blood.

Great value bike

Brought this for my nephew about 2 months ago to replace the naff carrera I got him last year and he loves it, I set shocks up for his weight double checked everything (perfect already) and took him chicksands where he absolutely left me for dust on slalom and 4x, this bike has given him no end of confidence, his doing stuff I didn't think he'd do and he gets some decent air too, plus its also been trouble free. Brakes are much better than mine too. I've Just got to get him a dropper post. Wish I'd got one of these myself instead of spending £££ on replacing both broken shocks on my old reign.. The bossnut is a great bike I definitely recommend it.

Boss nut evo

Got this bike on ride to work scheme can’t fault it one bit other then change of pedals and dropper post other than that top bike for value

Great bike, not great paint job

The bike is really good, changed the pedals, added a dropper post and is a really good ride, the paint job however chips to the metal really really easily, so much so that the dropper post cable actually rubs it off

Amazing bike for money

Had my EVO for just under a year and wow what a year its been, this bike has taken everything I've thrown at it recently Cannock chase and wow what an amazing time had on this bike, few little upgrades as I struggle with an old injury but still wow what a bike for the money. Also if you do buy this bike or any other bossnut check out Calibre Bossnut Riders Group on Facebook plenty of advice and regular meet ups and rides out!
100% recommend this bike to anyone!!

Excellent bike

Had the bike for 3 weeks now and it is extremely good, have noticed how quick it is down the trails in comparison to more expensive bikes and I am not a brilliant rider either.....I did a lot of looking, hours spent reviewing bikes etc. And this is 100% worth every penny. Really happy with it, the parts are excellent for the price too sram gears etc. You don't get this on more expensive bikes as you pay for the frame and end up having to upgrade and spend loads on better, forks, gear sets, rear shock etc. Would definitely recommend.

Can't beat it for the money!

This bike is amazing value for money! I ride at least once a week in all weather conditions with riders that are better than me, and are always pushing my limits, and this bike has taken everything I can throw at it! Even my friends with more expensive bikes say how good it has stood up to the heavy riding we have been doing! This thing is a value for money trail weapon!!!!!

The Best Yet!

Having owned the last 2 incarnations of the Bossnut (read the reviews) I can genuinely say that this is the best yet. Very small improvements and changes add up to make one hell of a bike. Ignore any review that doesn't give this bike 5*s because numptys cant get the tyre off. Straight out the box this is a very well sorted bike. Balanced, fast and grippy. The new bars are a dream and the 1x11 is fast and precise. It climbs well and comes down even better and faster than previous models. I am a very happy customer. Well done to the Calibre guys who have tweaked the already game changing Bossnut into this....The awesome Evo. As I said about the last ones there is nothing better in this price bracket and some.

great after tweaking

Love this bike. It's sooo nice and nimble.
For the price it is a steal.

Things I had to do as a overseas customer:

-Switch (and bleed) the brakes to non English style. L is rear en R I'd front. So that is different from the rest of the world. And you have to change the hoses, as with Shimano you can't change the calipers around.
-The derailleur was not adjusted at all. So needed to be set.
-Set suspension, as it was way to hard for my. ( You need a suspension pump for this)
-Removed "dork disk" which came loose the first ride.
-Add some chainstay protection to get rid of those ugly graphics and chainslap.
-Add some proper pedals.
(- Add a dropperpost, great upgrade)

So if you don't know how to do those things, you need some extra cash to get it done at your local bike shop. After all this is done you still get a great bike for a great price.

Great value for money

Great bike out of the box (just get some decent pedals). I've been using it regularly 6 months now, anywhere from canal paths to bike parks and it's been great, can't complain about any component, looks the part too. If you can, invest in a dropper post, it will be the best addition to the bike (if you want to ride technical trails).

Tip1 - bead of the tires is strongly held in place by rim tape (seems like it's glued at first), you have to first push it hard with your fingers away from the rim lip in order to pop it out from the tape. You will have to do it all around before you can use tyre levers. I guess it's a nature of tubles-ready rims.
Tip2 - put at least 30psi in the tyres if you want to avoid pinch flats on rocky descents.
