Pretty damn good

I bought this to use as an awning for my van and so far it’s been great! I just added some guy line to the end without the pole and threw them over the van and it’s worked out a treat! Happy

Needs looking at

Absolutely useless in windy conditions, however if you can do a little needle work and makeup guy ropes and source an adjustable pole it can become
a very handy awning,

Universal canopy

Wasn't sure about buying this item after reading the reviews but found it very easy to attach to my Vango tent I was very impressed with it no problems with wind or rain.i would recommend it to anyone

Needs tweaking.

I bought this canopy last year. I read all the reviews (there were many) and therefore added several more guying points. The structure then performed well even in the Cornish wind.

So far not good.

Purchased and used it a few weeks ago. Instructions not clear, it didnt stay up more than a couple of hours before falling down. Will try a different way to attach it to the tent next time.

No good in windy conditions

Used this for the first time last weekend. The instructions are not very clear on how to attach it but we figured it out. If there's any wind at all this is useless!! We had to remove it completey

Superb for the price.....

I really cant fault this tent for the price. I purchased it two years ago and have had two 2 week holidays in it with the kids. Both holidays tested it to its limit. Bright sindsuhine one week and horrendous torrential downpours (and strong winds) on the other. It excelled in both! OK there was a small puddle by the door with the constant unzipping of the door and walking in and out while its wet but I expected this in a downpour. I confess I purchased it as it was a good price and not having camped for a number if years I wasn't sure I'd go away again after the fist week away but I've been so impressed with it I've no plans to replace it ahead of our third week away. In fact I would recommend buying the canopy (which is what I'm hoping to do before next time in the hope it stops that door unzipping puddle when it's raining). A truly impressive buy I'd say!.

FT CANOPY..JUST RIGHT

Very good quality. Fits just right.

Universal canopy

This is ok so long as there is no wind. The strap does hold the canopy firmly in place over the door of the tent however in gusty winds if tends to collapse backwards towards the tent. This could be improved by adding a tension bar from the centre of the pole at the front to a mounting point at the rear of the canopy on the the strap, this is an effective method as I have fishing bivvy's that have this tension bar system and it works well.

Good universal canopy for a very reasonable price

Bought last year, but only using for the first time now as there's some cloud and light rain today, but warm enough to sit out. It's straight forward to assemble, pretty sturdy in the wind and for a reasonable price, a great way to add some extra living space to your tent. I've got a Sandero 4, so an ideal addition.

Freedom Trail Universal Canopy

Brilliant. I've had mine a couple of years now and am sat under it at this moment. Its affixed to my Icarus 300 and yes I've added a guy in the middle at the front and used bulldog clips to secure the canopy to the tent. It has survived a lot of diverse weather including the four thunder n lightening a couple of weeks ago......even had the sun shine on it!! ??

Good canopy

Bought to use on our tunnel buckingham elite tunnel tent, was attached to side door. Did as it says gave us extra protection from the elements especially the bugs falling on you. Easy to put up and very compact

OK - but could be better

Fitted this to a Sendero 6 for the first time this weekend. Was a challenge in breezy conditions and was very flimsy once fitted. Will need extra support to stop it 'caving in' on itself with anything more than a slight breeze. Great in still weather conditions though.

Freedom Trail FT Universal Canopy

Purchased to protect entry to our tent from rain. Haven't had chance to use as yet but have erected it and attached to our tent as a test. Seemed easy enough to put up, fitted over the front of our tent well and length of canopy was longer than anticipated so confident it will provide adequate shelter desired. Would have provided more cover if the sides had gone down to the floor which is what I was initially after.

Great Addition To Gobi 4

We were looking for an extention for our Gobi 4, fortunately we decided to read the reviews for the freedom trail universal canopy, thankfully Jacqui in Manchester gave a great review, therefore we purchased it. We are extremely pleased with the way it complements our tent. It was easy to assemble and packs away into a small bag and the colour is a great match. We did add a couple of extra guide ropes for extra stability as it was very windy .

Freedom trail universal canopy

This is a good canopy for the money however it's not without its drawbacks, this second a light breeze hit it the canopy it dances around. We added a few more guide ropes to it which seemed to help! But in saying that I don't hold much hope in heavier wind conditions.

Rubbish

Bought this for the Sendero4, which it doesn't fit very well and, as per the other reviewer, it needed more guy ropes to stiffened it up. The single fibreglass pole shredded and the thing collapsed in the first very light breeze.

Not that stable

Bought for a sondero 4 , which its compatable with but only 2 guy ropes doesn't give it enough stiffness and is baggy at the sides probably due to the fact its made to accommodate two different sizes tents held up ok in really light winds but have zero faith in more substantial weather

Surprisingly very good

We were on the lookout for a canopy for our Gobi Elite 4 (the only hi gear tent that doesn't feature a compatible canopy) and looked around at canopies for other tents to see if one would do but they're pretty expensive so we opted to give the universal canopy a go. It was pretty straightforward to set up and attach, a bit challenging in the wind but pitching anything in the wind is more difficult. It provided great shelter from the rain and enabled us to have our tent door open and sit outside underneath. It also gave us cover to cook outside too. Good value for money and highly recommended.

Good product

Bought to go with our Vango Icarus 500 and works well. The branded version would have been £150. Very pleased.
