A lightweight down jacket, great for casual winter use and walking.
Hi Gear's Packlite Alpinist is a reliable, lightweight jacket for the colder months, building on the success of their Packlite Down Jacket.
Filled with a 90/10 duck down mix, with 700 down fill power, it's designed to keep your core nice and warm, and comes with a close fitting hood for all over protection from the cold wind.
It has a durable water repellent coating that will cope with light rain and snow showers, whilst the downproof fabric helps reduce overall feather loss and keeps the filling packed away inside each baffle.
Being so lightweight, it compacts down really easily and can be stuffed inside its own pocket to a manageable size, meaning you can carry it with you and have it ready to go when you need it most.
Durable water repellent finish
Close fitting cuffs
Adjustable hem drawcord
Note: the Dark Purple colour option comes with either a blue or purple inner lining.
Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.
Collar: Measure around the base of the neck where the collar sits.
Chest: Measure the chest at the fullest part, placing the tape close up under the arms.
Waist: Measure the natural waistline.
Inside Leg: Measure from the crotch to where your trouser is normally worn on the shoe.
Jacket Length: Measure from the centre back of your neck to your hemline. Then length measurement will vary depending on the style.
Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.
It’s a perfect light coat for a quick run around. Specially when I take my kids out. Hated wearing heavy coats in the winter to move around with my kids but this Hi-gear one is perfect it’s light, keeps me warm and can run around with my kids more.

So I’ve previously bought big brand names for lots more money. I got this coat to walk the dog, but have to say I like it so much it’s been upgraded to my go to coat.
It’s very light, but very warm.
Zips are brilliant no snagging. For the money I’m going to buy another.
Definitely worth the money.
It kept out the rain too the other morning, so definitely recommend this little beauty!

Feathers fall out
Would recommend as it is very warm and lightweight but take into consideration that the feathers come out of your jacket from the seams.
Good value for money
Shame about the feather problem

Warm lightweight & snug
I love my jackets as I bought 2, BUT..... it never stops shedding feathers ! I have loose feathers in my car and sticking out of the fabric in my jacket, also when I’m out walking bits of feather come out of my jacket it’s a real nuisance..

Hi Gear Women's Packlite Alpinist Down Jacket
I bought this on the spur of the moment but I had been thinking about a thin down jacket for some time. It was reduced in price so that prompted me into action.
It is lovely and warm and really comfortable and the fit is really good.
I love it!

Nice warm jacket that squashes up really small. Lovely colour. Shame about the cheap zip that undoes from the bottom when you least expect it

Keeps me warm and cozy
I will be honest and say if money was no object I would buy a Rab jacket however it is, so when I saw this and read mainly positive reviews I bit the bullet and ordered. I've got to say I'm very pleased. I like the colour and the fit. It's extremely light. I can pack it away easily enough. I think the hood is baggy but I can stitch a press stud on to make it fit better if I wished. I went for a walk on a cold morning I was very cosy so much so I took the jacket off. If you want an amazingly priced down jacket, buy one while you can. I'm chuffed and my hubby is jealous but he's too tight to buy one.

Nice but you get what you pay for!
It is warm and comfy and I did really like it. But only a few months in the zip broke...I just caught it on something and as it's not a very robust zip the bottom fell off. So even though I got a good price it was expensive as didn't;t last long.

Good value jacket
A good jacket which is lightweight, warm and fits well. I am very pleased with my purchase, but I have marked it down by one star as it does seem to lose some feathers, which over time will affect its insulating properties.

24hours from ordering it was delivered, and is a proper piece of kit. Very very good value. Comparing its 700 fill vs my Northface 700 fill jacket there is a big difference. This is much slimmer and lighter.

I bought this just before the recent cold snap and snowy weather. The jacket was so fantastically warm and weatherproof that I wore it every day the Beast from the East reared its ugly head.

I bought this last year as was doing a RTW trip. I used it in Patagonia, Canada, Switzerland and New Zealand during their winter and it was so warm and packed away so handy into my backpack when I was in warmer countries.
The main downside is it loses a LOT of feathers and your clothing underneath does get covered in them but as long as you’re happy that being warm is your main priority you can’t beat this for the price. I’ve used mine so much in the last 12 months I’m just going to buy a new one this year as it’s reqlly had a lot of wear and does need replacing but for £35 you can’t complain.
