A very reliable lighter for foul weather conditions.... it's almost a mini blow-torch!

An excellent piece of field survival kit, the Turboflame Ranger burns with parallel jets of high-powered blue flames that are strong enough to burn in high wind.

Great for repairs outdoors, it can be used as a blow torch to heat metal, seal rope, cut line, melt plastics, light hexi in seconds, shrink wire joints, soften p-tex, seal fly ties, patch fibreglass, blast rust.... and it's also a reliable lighter in the field which works very well in bad weather conditions.

The flip cap opening allows easy one handed operation. The powerful twin flames can deliver a roaring high temperature heat where needed - even upside down!

It makes light work of lighting a camp fire or your Trangia stove in windy or rainy conditions, and will work up to 3000 M (10,000 ft) altitude without danger of ‘self-combusting’ at high altitudes.

  • Twin laser jet flames
  • Flip top safety cap for easy one-handed operation
  • Visible gas-level indicator
  • Adjustable 1300°C  'Clean Burn' flames
  • Heavy duty metal alloy body with rubberised coating
  • Operates in any orientation – even upside down (without bending the flame)
  • Works up to 3000M (10,000ft) altitude
  • Electronic piezo igniter
  • Wind resistant
  • Lanyard fastening hoo

Total garbage

I should have looked at other sites and reviews and noticed the multiple problems these pathetic lighters have. Don’t buy !

When they work...

I have three version of this. One is the original military version with a metal shell and one jet. This still works and is just indestructible. I'd trust my life to this one. The third one is a version of this with jets pointed at an angle to a single point. This works well but has not seen any real outdoors use so far. The second one is this version which has seen frankly fairly light use, almost always indoors and after a few years just died. The build quality is questionable and the capacity isn't brilliant. That said, it does what it says on the tin - it produces two hot flames and they're very wind resistant and work upside down. The flip up cap is good as a wind blocker as well. If you want a Gucci lighter to use when camping when you have a backup or at home, these are great but don't trust your life to them. The original is reliable, solid, decent kit. This is more a consumer item and should be treated as such.

Good but doesn’t last long

This has so much potential and really loved the product as it works in a gale up Penyfan however on my fourth wild camping trip the igniter stopped working and it is now rendered useless....

Turbo flame lighter

Once filled with gas and adjusted it’s an animal. Will light at any angle,if using on camping trips best as to take gas to refill as it’s a bit thrifty.

Excellent Lighter

Forget about the negative reviews this is excellent, use quality gas and follow the filling instructions and you will experience something that lights first time in any weather. Started a fire in a freezing bothy in seconds when my life depended on it.

Great lighter!

The only way this won't work is if you don't read the instructions! Seen negative reviews as it's empty when you buy it!? Of course it's empty when you buy it! SAFETY!

Very good

The lighter is quality, once you have set the flame useing a flat blade screwdriver over the filling valve, it lights every time. I have had mine for about 6 months. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is it uses gas pretty fast but that's kind of expected with a duel flame. All in all a very good lighter for starting fires while out camping

TurboFlame Ranger

Very dissapointed, seems a sturdy build however when filled would not light, looks like I will be returning the 3rd one this time for a refund...

On first time fill need to make careful adjustment of gas flow to get best flame. Good hot jets, not as good as the one where jets meet at a point, but still very useful. Fine for fire lighting, sealing ends of rope /paracord and always have with me when out and about.

Very Poor

I bought this as it looked robust and would be effective, what I have actually got is very poor and doesn't work. I will return for an exchange to see if I am just unlucky and bought a faulty one or is this just a very poor product?

I used to light fires with the flint and steel method but this is so much easier and it is great for some little jobs in the workshop

The best lighter I've bought so far

First off the heat. This thing is unreal the durability and build are in-canny! I have never had the pleasure of holding such a sturdy well built lighter until owning this bad boy! It easily melts through plastic and is highly wind resistive, I've managed to light it in gale force winds in the freezing cold while soaking wet. Just an unbelievable lighter!
