Excellent product

Used this item as a shelter to sit under in a day of heavy rain. Held up well with no leaks.

Would have liked more sturdy poles.

Still good.

I reviewed this tarp last year. And having used it extensively since then I can say that it is still an outstanding piece of kit. I have used it in different configurations from the classic A frame shape to a lean to, flat sheet suspended between 4 trees and fold over lean to.
Most recently I used it on the last few days of the Two Moors Way walk on Dartmoor. On the last evening the weather closed in and I was subject to rain and winds but the tarp performed well and there were no issues.
My only gripe is that the guy lines have kind of bobbled. But this is a cosmetic thing and has not stopped their ability to work. Should they at some stage become unusable then I will swap them out for paracord. (I have no problem with performing mods or repairs on kit I own to extend its life or usefulness.)
The only change I made to the kit was to change the pegs out for an even lighter set. Actually two sets for the same weight which gives me more pegs should I need them.

GO Recommended Product

Primarily purchased to compliment my old military basha sheet this has surpassed all expectations.
Lightweight and robust I have left the Tarp set up for a couple of days in the wind and the rain and it has remained dry and up in those conditions. The lightweight poles come in sections allowing me to set the tarp up in multiple configurations. I can also lower and heighten the tarp whilst its set up with minimal fuss.
I have slep under it a few times since purchase and it has kept me dry in the worst of the weather this summer has thrown at us. My only gripe is that in prolonged wet weather water will seep through the ridgeline pole eyelets and down the inside of the tarp front and rear. Whilst not much to worry about it would be nice to have some rubber pole caps to put on the tops of the poles to stop this.
In all it's a great bit of kit and will continue recommend it to other customers.

wind, rain, sun shelter

i bought this bush tarp after speaking to the customer service team and i also bought the oex phoxx one. the bush tarp is so easy to put up and i wanted it so that i have a shelter when i come out of the tent so i can watch the wildlife without them seeing me, and i can make a cuppa if it is raining. brilliant addition,to my kit. its light and fitted on the side of my rucksack. i will also be able to put it in my pannier on my bike when i go camping and biking!! whoever made this idea was brilliant, because you can lay under it on a clear night without going in the tent! worth the money you can put it into different positions with the poles and guy ropes so that you are sheltered from the wind, or the rain. fabulous product i have recommened to friends and my son so they can take it on their year camping trip

OEX Bush Tarp

Tarp is well made and looks to be sturdy . The guide ropes are inadequate and have replaced them with para cord . All in all a excellent product .

Great tarp, terrible guy ropes!!!

I bought this tarp and used it this weekend. The conditions were terrible and the tarp held up really well.

However, the guy ropes (or guide ropes depending on where you're from) didn't even last the weekend. They started to fray and the inside nylon became exposed. This was on ALL ropes.

This is not a bottom of the range item, they can be purchased much cheaper elsewhere, I wouldn't have expected this wear and tear after 1 weekend.

I took it back to my local store and they happily refunded my money, although they weren't best pleased about it being soaking wet.

oex bush tarp

I have used this tarp 7 times now and I love it.
brilliant for sheltering from the rain and the sun.
I love sitting under it in torrential downpours having a cuppa while everyone else has to shelter in their tents. it really does' what it says on the tin. also, get a couple of extra king poles and you can do what you want with it.

OEX Bush Tarp

Recently bought this tarp from the Plymouth store, Came ready to go (All lines attached) so decided to take it on the moors and see what it could handle.

Due to the nature of the terrain, I had to set it up in a low profile way (Using only 4/6 poles) and neglecting the lines on the corners. It survived against a harsh wind and kept dry when the heavens suddenly opened.

Theres a few changes I would have made. A few loops on the top ridge to allow it to be tied up to trees and make it easier to be used without the poles

I will also be bringing some bungey cords with me for pegging it down to the ground.

All in all a good tarp, nothing too special with it, If well placed and put up in the correct fashion it could be pretty much bomb-proof

OEX Tarp - Good product, vague description.

The negative first...More a critique on Go Outdoors than the tarp - As with many items on the website, their product descriptions are often inadequate and NOT very helpful! Case-in-point: the OEX bush tarp. Described as having one pole. Maybe so if that's the configuration you need, but surely better to be more specific and accurate. It actually comes as 6 x 310mm length aluminum sections.
Trying to find this information via the phone was like pulling teeth! So, I had to travel 15 miles to my nearest store. Totally unnecessary and annoying.
The Tarp itself is good quality, versatile and usefully packaged in it's own dry-bag.
I haven't used it in anger yet, but it seems well proofed, with a 5000HH rating. Water beads, as you'd expect.
I'd have preferred if the pole sections were not quite as loose when joined together, but there seems little wobble under duress, so it's a minor thing. The lines are on the thin side, but are adjustable, bright and luminous, and the pegs are robust.
No product is perfect, but this is worth the money, if purchased with a discount card.
If you need anymore info on OEX products, YouTube...'OOA Wild Camping' posts honest, entertaining, unbiased reviews of OEX gear that offer far more help and information than Go Outdoors seem to!
