Measuring tips

Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.

CHEST: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, making sure to keep the tape under the arms and around your shoulder blades.

WAIST: Measure around the smallest part of your waist (natural waistline).

HIPS: Stand with your heels together and measure around the fullest part.

INSIDE LEG: Measure from the top of your inner leg, along the inside seam to the bottom of your leg.

Flawed but worth fixing.

I've had my Vapour Rise gloves for a few years now and I've never quite managed to get on with them, finding them not warm enough when setting out on chilly mornings and then having them veer wildly into being too hot and sweaty once I started to warm up. Having finally got fed up of this and using a little lateral thinking from my experience with base and outer layers and also with Rab's equally flawed Vapour Rise jackets I cut out the microfiber lining, which seemed to be at the root of the problem and started wearing the resultant shells with a knitted, seamless liner glove. Revelation! This combination was instantly more comfortable, warmed up more quickly and maintained a nice, stable environment for my hands - something these gloves had singularly failed to do ever since I had them. The weak link in these is the microfibre lining, which completely useless. Now I've removed it I have gloves which are, with the addition of the liners I'm using, pleasant to wear and much more versatile. The two star rating is for the gloves as Rab specced them. As they are now, with the shells usable with a replaceable liner, I'd give them a five star rating. Pity Rab didn't make them like this in the first place.

Don't get them wet...

Quite litetally impossible to put on when damp, even just through sweat. The lining turns into some kind of super strength adhesive that clings to skin with unrivalled sticking power. If it wasn't for this they'd score a five.

Cold Hands

I tried these for nordic skiing, as many gloves I have are too sweaty. They are well made but offer almost no insulation.Within minutes of changing to these my hands were numb. They spent the rest of the trip at the bottom of my pack. Might be ok for dry windy conditions in the uk, or around camp when working as they do offer quite good dexterity. They would have been ok if Rab had insulated them a bit more . I thought they'd be ok as Rab are a good company, all I can say is if you buy these make sure you have plenty of others to back up.

Warm and thin

Not to thick so I am still able to work in them! Can’t feel everything but if you want to be warm you have to compensate a bit! Nice style as well look really nice and have leather palms so grip is good!!

Very good gloves

These gloves are light but very comfortable and warm. Just the ticket for those colder walls.

RAB gloves

The gloves are warm, have a good fit and the leather palms are great for handling equipment in the cold.
Only downside is that the gloves are not touchscreen friendly i.e. they have to be taken off to use a phone or tablet, not ideal for gloves in this price range.

Rab Vapour-rise Glove

I bought these to go to Iceland with and very disappointed with them. I struggled to put the gloves due to tight fitting when hands got cold and very little protection for the ends of my fingers. I have bought cheaper that are better.
