A Tidy Little Reel - Little Being the Operative Word

Brought this to use as a lure reel and given it 3 stars just because it looks and feels very tidy. But it is very small and will not take 100m of Maxima 8lb line so it is very small and going back

Nice Reel

Wanted a decent drop shoot reel without spending the earth. I dont buy cheap reel's normally, i have a couple of old shimano 4000 size biomasters, and a couple of old daiwa emblem's. Checked these out and was very impressed, the drag is superb, the finish could be better (slight burr in handle hole) Line lay is pretty good spooled up with 6lb braid. I might even buy another at this price..

Excellent value small lure fishing reel

I bought two of these little reels to use with Shakespeare 6'7" 7g LRF rods for myself and my son. They balance the rod nicely. It's not always that easy to find decent 1000 size reels on a budget so these were quite a find.

The reel has an excellent drag. I use these reels with light braid mainline (6lb) and a light wire trace when perch lure fishing on my local canal. The drag is so smooth and responsive that even fairly hefty rogue pike pose no real threat of snapping the line despite vicious takes at close range.

I have also used these reels with really light fluorocarbon (down as low as 2lb) when fishing in the sea for mini-species and have found the drag to be smooth and highly adjustable even at light drag settings.

The metal spools are a nice touch.

For the money you can't go wrong. Had mine 18 months and they have been very heavily used. Still work great, just need cleaning once in a while. BTW you can use these reels in saltwater, just rinse them with freshwater after use. I have zero corrosion on mine.

Sure you could spend £100 on a Shimano, but would a Shimano be 6 times better for 6 times the price? I think not. These reels are in my opinion good enough for just about anyone.
