Wrongly Recommended For Requirement

I'm extremely unhappy. Took my bike in for its 6 weeks service today, told by the next service I'll probably need a new bike! This is not suitable for a 2 mile commute 5 days a week. I'm disgusted.

Cheap bike, iffy brakes, Frame Failed while i was riding it.

I got one of these as a cheap folder to use on my commute as full size bikes are banned during rush hour of the trains round here.

Probably the most important point is the complete and dangerous failure of the weld where the front half of the frame connected to the folding mechanism. Bike returned for a refund and eh staff at the sore where superb and hopefully will follow up with the manufacturer.

If you get one of these be aware:-

Every bolt will need tightened/adjusted but there are no torque values on anything.
The front wheel is a quick release but the back is a bolt so carry a spanner and make sure you can get the wheel off.
The brakes are not great, and the rear blocks that came with the bike lasted about 250 km, they also howled like a banshee when slowing down.
The gears are okay but Needed adjusting (not unusually as cables stretch)
The folding pedals are not particularly robust, and actually have instructions to not press too heavily on them in the wrong place. (i changed them as generally no bike no matter how much you pay ever comes with good pedals)

The frame on mine snapped.

That's probably quite important really, also as its a folding bike you kind of get used to it flexing and the various noises it makes so it was kind of unexpected.

Great budget folder

I bought one of these bikes a week ago and I'm very pleased with my purchase. It looks good, it's not too heavy (despite being a relatively inexpensive folder) and it's very comfortable to ride. I've already done one particularly long journey (for me) – a 51-mile round trip from Swansea to Kidwelly via Llanelli and back on a section of National Cycle Route 4 – without experiencing any issues whatsoever. Every gear change was quick and smooth, and I didn't even need to put any more air in the tyres when I got back. Ideally, I would have liked a slightly bigger top gear than the 14t sprocket provides,, but that's only a minor gripe. On the flat, I find I can still easily and comfortably cruise at 12 mph+ for extended periods, and I can even get 20 mph+ out of it if I push hard. That's plenty of speed for most people and for most cycle paths.

Love it

Have ridden this more in the three weeks I have had it than I did in the three years I had my old bike

Great little Bike

Good build quality and rides well, with seven gears has a good turn of speed when required. We also have a Giant Halfway folding bike that cost over twice the price of the compass but this compass seams every bit as good.

Love This Bike

This bike is easy to fold, looks good and is SO MUCH FUN to ride. Lots of people have commented on it as I have been whizzing around town. I don't need to fold it very often but when I do it does seem quite bulky and heavy so it may not be suitable for every day commuters ... apart from that I think it is AMAZING and we are thinking of getting another one for my partner (who is 6ft2) ... The price is perfect too.

Great folder for taller people

Having used other folding bikes in the past I find the high seat make a real difference for a some around 6ft.

The additional gear is also great allowing for you to get up some decent speed. I have had great delight in over-taking people clad in lycra on road bikes on this little folder in my jeans

The only downside is the speed on the clips which weren’t quite as fast as my last folder, however after a few journeys on the train I was almost as speedy and the extra gear means you get to the train station quicker anyway.

All in all a great folding bike, especially for the price.
