Great
I got this to start me off fishing and it has almost everything you could want. I would advise that you change the line and hooks.
Everything you need to start
Going back to fishing many years after I first dabbled I wanted a kit that allowed me to turn up on the bank and start. This kit does that. You probably might be able to save a couple of quid going to lots of different places to buy all the parts but this is much easier.
So, to the contents.
The rod: 3 part black and looks good. Foam handle. Rubber holders for the reel.
Reel: line already installed, clutch, reversible, fairly solid feel.
Bank stick: pointy stick of metal with rest on top, again fairly solid.
Bait box: small, ventilated, does the job.
Tackle box: quite small but fits everything in this kit.
Floats, choice of clear wagglers with orange tips.
Hooks: size 18 barbless to nylon.
Shot: good choice of shot.
Bag: not really a bag just a sleeve. Quite flimsy.
I went fishing on a lake for the first time with the kit. Took maggots and sweetcorn and picked up a couple of carp off the sweetcorn.
Things I am going to add to this: A landing net, an unhooking mat and a sleeve.
All in all I recommend this kit.
The reel clutch mech failed after 2nd outing, and the rubber stays that hold the reel came loose meaning you’ve got to constantly hold them together - or keep flinging your reel into the water as I’ve just done. All rods seem to have a screwed section to hold in the reel, this one doesn’t. As such I’ve had to completely replace the rod, which makes the whole kit a complete waste as you can get a starter kit without the rod for £15. As such would avoid completely. Btw, the line is awful too.
