Disappointed

Worst thing we ever did was buy this. Legs broke and handle broke and it also cooks food too quick it burns them rather than cooking them through properly. Usually love this brand but very disappointed

Great piece of kitchen kit

Have used this double hob and grill for a few weeks. It is as good as its home equivalent. Mostly used for cooking steaks to perfection outside: can get a griddle pan as hot as you like. I do recognise the gripes that many people have with the model, though treated with care I reckon mine will last for a long time. I would have given it 5 stars if the grill had been a bit bigger and easier to light. Overall: I think it is great and have no regrets in having bought it.

Campingaz Xcelerate 400ST

When I first looked at buying a full stove setup this product was high on my list of possible stoves and after looking at the alternatives I chose this one for the following reasons:
1. It was relatively compact and stowed quite easily.
2. It had a grill.
and 3. It (apparently) was the best on the market.
Well, where to start? The material the feet are made from is very flimsy and has broken. A bit too much cheap plastic used to make the attached parts. The adjustable heat setting on the burner rings is a joke, they are either at full afterburner, slightly cooler than the sun or off! there is no simmer, the food is burning the moment you put the pan over the heat and the only way to regulate this is to frequently remove the pan from the burner ring. The final gripe is the difficulty in cleaning the stove, lots of nooks and crannies to try and get to in order to give it a good clean (especially after frying anything as the full afterburner makes fat spit everywhere!).
I have had this stove for a few years now, only really to get my monies worth out of it but planning to purchase a better one soon. That's the only reason it hasn't received just one star.

Terrible Build quality

In theory this is a great stove but the build quality is awful, the locking catch is almost impossible to latch properly as the handle gets in the way. Also the plastic feet are so flimsy that we are already on our third set.

The burner is great but it is totally ruined by very cheap and nasty materials. I would recommend at all in fact we are already looking to replace ours with something that won’t fall apart so easily

Well worth the money

The cooker is a bit more expensive than some others on the market but you get what you pay for. Very sturdy cooker and the burners really do save you time and gas. I would recommend this cooker to anyone.

Cooking fun....

Bought this cooker as I wanted one with a grill and after looking around in store seemed to be the best one to buy. Opened it when we got the the campsite to see that the handle had already broken!! Ignition is hit and miss and the stove seems to have only one heat setting -EXTRA HOT - which is great when you're boiling water. Unfortunately the grill was a bit of a let down. Struggled to light it and then found there's probably more power in a Gnats f**t - great for keeping food warm though. Have returned to the Cardiff store where their customer service was outstanding and the managers were very understanding. They exchanged it for another one straight away with no problems- fingers crossed this second one functions a bit better if not then I will be looking to change it for a different model.

Campingaz Xcelerate™ 400ST Double Burner Stove and Toaster

The good thing about this stove is that the wind shields around the gas rings mean you can cook in any weather. The bad thing is the cheap, flimsy, breakable plastic parts – the legs, catch, grill handle – which all broke on the first camping holiday. This would be very easy for Campinggaz to resolve, especially as almost every review says the same thing.

Flimsy legs

The cooking unit itself is a 5 star product but the thin plastic legs let it down. We have had 2 of these and both of them broke at the legs which are made of thin plastic. We did not notice the damage until we came to use the stove for about its 3rd or 4th trip, but just 2 weeks out of guarentee. If this is classed as a short term throw away product, (Gooutdoors Plymouth Lady manager comment), then it should be labelled as such

Gas burner rating

Bought it 10days ago. Flimsy catch doesn't really matter to me. I might re-jet one of the burners so it can simmer.Couldn't get the toaster to light from the push button so might need to light manually.

Very poor quality and control issues

Bought the cooker off Amazon this time last year. Had camping gaz stoves before and been impressed. This one was appalling. The plastic legs broke off early on and then the handle. The plastic is very poor quality. The cooker flame is uncontrollable. It has to be kept high or it goes out. Simmering not an option. I burnt most of our food. Camping gaz need to get this sorted. l won't use it again!!

Poor quality

Used this cooker 4 times before the leg, handle and catch broke off.
Cooker flame is not controllable at minimum thus burns pans and food.
It is not good value for money and I have returned it for a refund/credit note.

Check it over before you buy

I bought this it was on sale, so thought it was a good deal.
You need to test it before your first trip. Our gas control knob wouldn't push in for the ignite. The knob fouls the metal on one of the controls. So check this. It is awkward to open close. But won't close by accident. So that's a good thing. Plus it's no big deal one you know how it open/closes.
It is very plastic cheap feeling. The feet especially look like the will break one day. They are really flimsy. But we will see. If they are available as a spare for cheap it won't be an issue.
The grill is pointless. 1 slice of toast size. If I wouldn't buy the grill version if it wasn't on offer. Save your money and buy a toaster.
So in short check before you buy and use it. It's not worth anywhere near retail. But it does cook food well. They should make it £30 more and upgrade the cheap plastic parts for quality parts.

poor instructions

I have never been one for reviews went to go at Clydebank asked for help and explained the the bad reviews with closing the stove the model on display was damaged by customers forcing it shut, tried a unopened boxed one and sussed how to close properly the clasp is a bit flimsy but the manual has little info on this model the closing instruction photo is not in English had to translate from Spanish so hold the handle in left hand put right hand under the grill knob at the middle lifting it up releasing the two hinges and slowly close until closed, the front knobs could be clearer by low high medium signs not much simmer control so more info on closing on manual or on video then this stove wont be returned damaged and thrashed in the reviews so the rockets at campinggaz if your listening get it sorted

Dillion of Leeds

I myself a campingaz stove have read some of the reviews, I have laughed and cried at you puny human beings trying to collapse the mighty stove resistance. our feet are sturdy and will stand any ground you put us on, our wind deflectors deflect the wind like a mighty shield while the flame does a naked dance. you may try and shut the lid on the stove but it will just laugh at you hysterically, we will stand strong with the log burners and bbqs.

Cooks great once you get it to light !!!!

fantastic cooker very fast as others have said as quick as your home stove . BUT !!!!! We used ours for the first time last weekend and one of the igniters doesn't work at all and the other is very temperamental so if you do purchase this stove make sure to take a long nose lighter with you so you don't get caught out

Things keep falling off

Further to my last review one of the feet has now broken off, I have called it a day and returned stove to Go Outdoors and received a refund.

Things keep falling off.

Bought this last year after our old double Gaz burner packed up after twenty years use.
After its first use the carrying handle broke off, so made a new one using some 15mm webbing.
This is our first time in using it this season and on opening the lid locking latch broke off.
Just made some toast using the grill this morning and the cheap plastic grill handle has broken off. This thing is only 10 months old, I can't see it lasting 20 years like our previous Gaz stove.
I've given it two stars because the grill and two burners work OK.

Great stove

We upgraded our gas stove and went for the Campingaz Xcellerate. Brilliant piece of kit, heat food up really quickly and uses less gas than our old campingaz stove. Not sure about people having issues closing it........simply lift the front and it closes nicely. Fold down compact for easy transport. Highly recommended.

Great cooker

I brought this for family cooking while camping, My first one that i checked before leaving the car park on the day of purchase the handle had broken, so took it back to change, the new one i got was a display model. when i got it home and attached all the gas parts on and tested i noticed some thing that i had noticed on the previous one as well that where the gas inlet is doesn't always line up in the same place as the cut out in the case. I also found that upon ignition using the ignited can make the flame to jump, i use a gas stick lighter to have a flame there before letting the gas through which solved the issue, the wind protection from the gaurds are great.
