Stay warm and comfortable in cold, wet weather with these fully waterproof, breathable trousers.

Hi Gear's Typhoon Insulated Trousers are a warmer version of their popular Typhoon waterproof trousers, with added 60g synthetic insulation that will keep you comfortable if you're out in colder temperatures.

Their polyester lining means that they're comfortable on their own, and especially when worn over a thermal baselayer such as the Hi Gear Long John Thermal Baselayer Leggings. Their articulated knee design allows you to bend your legs fully, or extend to full stretch, without the leg riding up and exposing you to the elements.

3/4 length leg zips make for easy ventilation, and mean pulling them on or off over your boots is quick and easy.

Zipped and open pockets at the front give you room for your essentials, and quick access to whatever legwear you may be wearing underneath.

  • Inside leg length = 33"
  • Waterproof and breathable
  • 60 synthetic insulation
  • 3M Teflon coating
  • Elasticated waistband (with toggle)

Men's Clothing size guide

Measuring tips

Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.

Collar: Measure around the base of the neck where the collar sits.

Chest: Measure the chest at the fullest part, placing the tape close up under the arms.

Waist: Measure the natural waistline.

Inside Leg: Measure from the crotch to where your trouser is normally worn on the shoe.

Jacket Length: Measure from the centre back of your neck to your hemline. The length measurement will vary depending on the style.

Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.

Excellent light weight trousers

I bought these trousers as I wanted a pair that I could wear as trousers rather than over trousers (I was sick of having to strip off three layers when I arrived at work, Base layer, normal trousers and waterproof over trousers), and I am really impressed they keep me warm and dry on wet cycles to work or walks out in the wilds are light weight, and pretty breathable and cost a heck of a lot less than many that do a similar job (I have a pair of very expensive water proof trousers, that cost over £100, they are tougher, I've sat in gorse in them, and warmer as they are thermal lined, but for a quarter of the price these are near perfect if you are not planning the above!).

The other aspect I like is that they can be washed in a normal wash, no need for hand-washing and special drying instructions etc. They do pick up lint a little in the wash, which is why I have marked them down a little.

Style wise they are very tracksuit bottom like which is great if you want to wear them at school pick up as you don't look too odd in full waterproof gear, but do look a little chavvy (sorry).

Overall I doubt you will find a more comfortable pair, especially at the price, that do the job so well.

Excellent value for a decent product.

I bought these to tackle my first winter season on the mountains (I'm usually a fairweather walker) and took them out for a trek last weekend in a rainstorm.

They definitely kept me drier than I would otherwise have been. Maybe letting in a little water round the seams, but nothing major.

Definitely worth the price if you are looking to experience the mountains this winter for the first time.
