Bought this as a cheap disposable combo .... But was really impressed with the rod... Has a decent action and caught 4 perch and a couple of dace on its first outing.... Line needs replacing ASAP!
Couldn't recommend this more, I've caught 4 pound pike and trout on this rod (and even hoisted the trout up a waterfall) the reel line is rubbish and needs changing from the outset, great rod though.
I combo it as a main rod with a dywa reel. I've had nearly 20 pound carp and it took me 30 seconds to land . Ive had pike, chub, roach, rudd, tench(gold as well),cruisian, perch, owned 8 years and prestine
Excellent rod for fishing small streams and rivers, i use it for brown trout fishing and waggler for roach, just needs fresh line as most reels do and you are good to go, had mine for 4 years
I bought 2 of these for my daughters to use (with my guidance) and both reels, within minutes, had jammed because the line came off and got tangled within the mech. I fixed both but it happened again.
Fantastic product especially for the price. Perfect for our camping and boat trips.
This rod is great
I originally got it for dropshoting but it's a little too big for that, not a bad thing it will be a small lure rod for me I enjoy using this rod bit will need a new line for the reel
Absolute steal! Ive been using this rod with a different reel with braided line for pike on canals.. dead baiting and lures cant go wrong.. used for a bit of boat spinning for bike aswell.
I purchased this particular combo a couple of years ago and have used it extensively for catching small bass, I found the line was inadequate so put on a bigger reel and line with 20lb mono. Not had much big on it yet but have fun using it as a fun back up in the surf at Dungeness between my two 15 footers. All gonna try using it for mackerel next year very versatile little set! Love it !!
Brought this rod for my nephew ideal for a new starter he needed one that he can take camping so a great when space is limited in the car
Cheap utilisable rod, perfect for those who want to spend their afternoon reeling in the 2 nd part of said rod
I bought this rod for my 8 year old Grandson. He has used it on a few occasions and loves it. The rod has worked very well even landing a lb10 Carp.
What a great little set up, first time out with it caught a 9lb carp no problem!!!!
excellent value for money
Purchased for my 10 years old, my 7 year old has a £20 rod that is much better. First time out, the cheap line became twisted within seconds of use. The line became wrapped under the bail spool. To remove the spool you have to undo a thumb nut to find two loose elements that could easily get lost (small red washer and a toothed cog). Rubbish hence the price tag. You don't have to spend much more to get something much much better.
I bought this kit when I decided to get back into fishing after a 20 year break. Decided to go cheap to start to see if I was going to enjoy it again and didn’t expect much but my word! For £10 this thing is ridiculous. Others have mentioned the line being poor but I’ve not had any bother with it yet. I’m using the rod for spinning and have landed some average perch just fine and lost a couple of pike.
Amazing value for money.
Bought this for my four year old and honestly didn't expect much. Managed to land 1lb tench, 2lb Bream, good sized Roach and Rudd and a couple of decent carp (2lb ish) on it's first 3 outings. The rod and reel had no issues with any of these fish and I'd say it could easily go far larger.
Rod is well constructed, light and well balanced
The reel is smooth and does it's job which is all you can really ask for.
The only slight issue is the line which others have mentioned before, it's okay-ish but it's really too heavy for this combo. It's an easy fix though, replace it with 4-6lb line and the rod is blindingly good for the money.
I had been watching a lot of USA Walmart challenges on YouTube where they spend say $20 on tackle and see how it performs. We'll, as we don't have Walmart I found this cheapest rod/reel/line combo in the UK.
Tied on a swivel snap link and a spinner that I'd found to keep costs down and went down to a local spot.
The line, as stated elsewhere is cheap, but the rod and reel far exceed the price. Casting carefully achieved some very good distances and feathering the line prevented tangles. Casting to bankside cover tempted out a 2lb pike which the rod/reel handled OK with the drag set on the safe side.
Just as effective as my best tackle, so get one of these combo's and see what it produces ????
Bought this while away, absolutely great little rod, decided to now keep it on my fishing boat for when we go out
