Had a pair of these previously & they were solid & lasted a good while. But now that they've ditched the Vibram sole & replaced it with something that wears through in no time. Not worth half the price & I still wouldn't buy 'em again. Scarpa have lost a customer

Good but not great
A good looking pair of walking shoes or for general use. They are comfortable but better after I replaced the standard insole provided. A sturdy and stiff shoe that is a little heavier than my usual Merrells. Hopefully they will become more flexible with wear. Given some other reviews will be interested to see how hardwearing they prove to be.

I bought these about 12 months ago for dog walking and leisure wear. I was very shocked when, after about 6 months of light walking I saw how far the sole grip had worn down. Had they been used for serious walking they would be worn out soon afterwards. These shoes are a lot of money and I expected better. I will not be buying Scarpa again.

If the shoe fits - wear it!
For years I had the most fantastic pair of walking shoes from a major name. Unfortunately they no longer manufacture walking shoes so I have been looking for some time now to find a pair that match my old ones for comfort and style. After trying numerous outlets and even more pairs of shoes I have found what I have been looking for in these Scarpa Cyrus GTX. I am absolutely delighted!

Scarpa walking shoes
These walking shoes are very comfortable especially if you buy one size larger than dress shoe size to allow for thicker socks. I wanted these for everyday knockabout and serious light hill walking and they perform very well. Grip and water proofing is good and they allow the foot to breath so no sweaty feet. The toe construction is better than other designs where there is a greater chance of glue failure and separation of the components. Altogether a first rate walking shoe.

After only four months of light walking, the cardboard in the heel folded back on itself. They are now unsuitable for walking in. Will not buy again.

Disappointed with how quickly sole has worn through
I bought these walking shoes 9 months ago and while I have found them comfortable and waterproof I have been disappointed to find that the sole does not last, even with relatively light (dog walking) use. One of the laces is beginning to fray which is testimony to the light use. The heal is worn through to whatever it is glued to and the front section of the sole will follow shortly. Uppers have plenty of life left in them. Very disappointed because I thought Scarpa was a brand to be trusted.

Trust the brand!
Based on lukewarm reviews, and a rating of 3stars out of 5, I was extremely hesitant to buy them. As it is, I went with my instincts and my high opinion of Scarpa based on past experience.I'm glad I did. I have worn the shoes in a wide variety of situations and have experienced none of the shortcomings mentioned in other reviews. They are sturdy, comfortable and have a firm grip on all surfaces, rough, smooth, wet or dry.

Felt good in the shop, but in use the L/H shoe blistered my smallest toe! If these had been cheap & cheerful fair enough but at £117 noooo!
Will perservere & hope they give a little meanwhile

Useful walking shoes
I bought these walking shoes on advice from a most helpful assistant as I particularly wanted wide fitting shoes.
I've only walked once in the shoes. They are waterproof and seem comfortable but are a little heavier on the foot than I expected.

Poor cushioning on sole
Very happy with look and quality of the nubuck uppers. Sole has very poor cushioning making any walking on pavements uncomfortable. Grip is poor on rocks and wet pavements.

I have just purchased a second pair as my 1st are looking a bit tired and the soles are 75% worn after a year of almost constant use. They are without doubt the best shoes I have ever had! Ok so they haven't got the grip of the Scarpa boots but if it's that bad...wear your boots! As for general daily use and trips through fields etc they're great. Where they could improve is making more sizes (including half sizes) available. I am a size 10 but have to have a 10.5 and an extra insole which isn't ideal.

Brand damaging product
I bought these because I really rate Scarpa footwear and own many pairs for various outdoor activities. Sadly these shoes don't live up to their usual high standards. If I hadn't bought them from a reputable retailer I would have said they're Chinese counterfeits. My main issue with them is the sole which is lethally slippery on many wet surfaces. Further, the sole has poor cushioning capacity causing pain in my legs which I don't suffer from with other walking shoes. These shoes are not safe to wear on the high street let alone rocky paths.

Very comfortable, but some issues
Very comfortable at first, but be aware that the shoe upper stretches and (I think) the footbed compresses, so you find yourself with a pair of shoes which allow your feet to move around inside.
To get more arch support and help with my under-pronation I have some customised orthotic insoles in which have helped, but more recently I've also had to add two Berghaus 3mm volume adjusting insoles - which of course compress all too easily and need regular replacement.
After about 550 miles total over the six months I've had these shoes, using on roads, fields and footpaths, I find the sole / heel is significantly worn but probably have the same mileage again in them. The shoes are waterproof - full marks for this. Stitching and nubuck show no signs of wear and tear. As others have observed the sole can be slippery on some surfaces - metal (naturally), but also wet roads - wet anything, really. Not a shoe for anything more than energetic dog-walking, really.

Comfortable but sole wears out in 3 months
These Scarpa walking shoes look good and feel comfortable, but both soles wore out on the heel within 3 months. I only walked 1.5 hrs per day on the moors with our dog - not hard surfaces!
Returned to manufacturer by Go-Outdoors, who stated it was normal wear! So I asked Go-Outdoors manager to agree an independent expert for further review - whereupon they decided to offer replacement with a different make.

Got these for some easy walks and about town. Got them as they were goretex as well. Had them for around 6 months. Moderate use . They started leaking quite bad and the soles are so slippy .Rubber very soft and wears quickly. Took them back to store and some tests were done To check the leaks. Found to be faulty . So replaced them with a pair of scarpa mojitos. The manager in the Clydebank store gave me exceptional customer service. Think his name was John.

Comfortable and good looking
The size 12 seemed right at the time in Jan 2016 but after wearing for a while I should have gone upto the next size. The cheap size 12 Hitecs I bought the same day are slack and never had to think going larger than a 12 in the past. Anyway they are comfortable but a little tight when its warm.
The negatives are that the first trip out from work on damp pavement I found they were a little slippy. Almost went flying 2 weeks later when I walked into the loo at an Indian restaurant ... the tiled floor was dry but still almost came a cropper which has never happened in the past. Also have to be careful on the metal doors in the pavement for pub basements so amazed how slippy the soles can be.A lecturer where I work has had 2 pairs for many years and agreed with them being slippy on certain surfaces. Toying with the idea of buying the next size up as I do like the style and could be more comfortable. Price would have been better if Go Outdoors got in touch when I submitted online for the price match... a £7 saving would have helped !

I tried these shoes on impulse in the shop, as the Merrells I went in for weren't available in my size. I'm so glad I did! They were incredibly comfy from the off.
To make sure, though, I wore them on a decent evening walk with the dog. They were so comfortable I wore them all day the next day - and I mean all day! From 08:00 to 23:30! No rubbing; no blisters; no aches; no pains.
If they last as long as my Brasher boots have (over 10 years), they'll be worth every penny!
