Bad quality in the long-run
I received this down jacket as a gift, slightly less than two years ago. Half a year ago the jacket started losing more and more down, especially at the waist area.
There's no way I can wear it at work or to go out with friends, as I end up looking like a chicken, and there's no trust regarding its performance in the mountains, which was the main reason I bought it for. In a few months this jacket will have no down left inside.
I did a research online and saw that many people had the same problem - lots of down sticking on their clothes.
I contacted RAB and they told me that it might needs to be washed. I sent it to them and paid the high premium. When I received it, feathers kept on sticking on my clothes. I contacted RAB again and said they would only accept it for repair with the receipt. It was a gift from my ex partner... and there's no way I can find a receipt. I don't know if they're afraid there are fake versions of their down jackets, but that's an awful customer service by RAB and awful quality for such an expensive item.
I had a similar quality problem with a North Face jacket two years after I purchased it. TNF took it back and reimbursed me in a few days!
That was excellent service from their side, but RAB...? No way I would buy something from them and waste time with such "cheap" customer care procedures.
