A light but very well-equipped waterproof jacket that's ideal for hikers, climbers and Alpinists alike.
Packing down to a small size for portability, Mammut's Kento HS Hooded Jacket provides a quick layer of protection from the wind and rain, with a great fit and a lightness that befits an item of far less practicality.
It's made from their lightweight DRYtech™ Premium 2.5 layer stretch fabric for a high level of waterproofing, with good breathability and ventilation for all-day hill and mountain use.
The hood is tailored to be compatible with helmets, and includes hooks for attachments; the jacket itself has enough pockets for plenty of smaller items, and has a zippered underarm ventilation system that will keep you cool when the temperature rises.
Hook & Loop cuffs and the hem drawstring adjustment allows you to hunker down when the wind gets up or the temperatures drop, making for a very well rounded jacket across different seasons and uses.
DRYtech™ Premium 2.5 layer fabric
100% polyurethane membrane
Adjustable hem with drawstring
Tailored, helmet compatible hood
Reinforced hood shield to withstand strong gusts of wind
Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.
Collar: Measure around the base of the neck where the collar sits.
Chest: Measure the chest at the fullest part, placing the tape close up under the arms.
Waist: Measure the natural waistline.
Inside Leg: Measure from the crotch to where your trouser is normally worn on the shoe.
Jacket Length: Measure from the centre back of your neck to your hemline. The length measurement will vary depending on the style.
Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.
I have just purchased a mammut jacket after being very disappointed with a saloman , the mammut is single skin light extremely well made and unbelievably water proof been out in heavy rain for almost 3 hours and it performed fantastic ,
The style of coat is a very fitted cut which could catch people out so when trying it on in store make sure you do plenty of stretching and bending to make sure your happy
Otherwise the best waterproof coat out there

Don't waste your money buy one of the many alternatives
Bought as a lighter alternative to my Pàramo smock, however, even the heavier weight smock is more comfortable to walk in and more breathable. I don't class this jacket as breathable at all. Even with the underarm vents fully open between showers it may as well be a cheap plastic sweaty anorak. Probably the worst item I've ever spent money on for walking.

Slim fitting and perfect
So I've now managed to use this jacket for both its intended purposes and can now write a review which consists of more than just the service at GO (which was great as always). This week I was caught in ridiculous wind and then today in wind and heavy downpours on top of the York moors. Both times I have been dry, warm and wondering why I have never bought a decent wind/waterproof jacket before. It stops the wind in its tracks and with a baselayer and thin fleece underneath its been very warm. It's not amazingly breathable but better than my less expensive waterproofs. I'm not sure a waterproof coat that is as breathable as some people would like actually exists but this is more than comfortable. It's probably not for anyone who is carrying a few extra pounds as it is very slim fitting. I got the large and struggle to get anything other than a midweight fleece underneath. The hood works really well and tightens up perfectly. Well worth the money.
