An exceptionally light and easily packable down jacket. Insulation doesn’t get much lower in weight or bulk.

Very light yet very warm, Montane's Featherlite™ Down Jacket is highly versatile for year round mountain activities.

Its fully windproof outer face has a superior DWR treatment that means light rain will just shake off, so you can wear the Featherlite Down Jacket as a mid-layer in really cold conditions, or as an effective weather shield on cold, drizzly evenings.

Good jacket with minor points

I've had this jacket 12 months and it has served my well. Weather depending it has kept me warm (with a lightweight fleece) and withstood being caught in a rain storm or two. Only (minor) drawbacks; when it gets really windy I can feel the breeze through some of the seams, and, the zip keeps coming apart from the bottom! Very annoying considering I've only walked in this jacket and not climbed. Maybe mine just has a defective zip as nobody else has mentioned it.

Top Jacket - and top service

It was this or the Rab Microlight. I've had a microlight but it got damaged about 6 months ago. Insurance covered it but I've waited until now to replace - 'Winter's Coming!' etc

I'm glad I waited. I bought a pair of Montane mountain gloves to go ski mountaineering in Feb and they were impressive - so I looked at Montane as a possible replacement for the Rab. What I really liked was the cut - it fits me better as I seem to fall between a Rab L and XL. The Montane XL is, for me, between the two and spot on. I was concerned that the Montane featherlite did not have 'Hydrophobic' down (quite why I was concerned, I don't know. There's successful marketing for you!) - but it has water resistant treated down which as far as I can make out is the same sort of thing. As to features, the hood is more adjustable and it has an extra pocket. The pertex outer is different feeling to the Rab - softer, perhaps not as rugged feeling, but certainly tough enough.

I loved the Rab - a great jacket, but I REALLY love the Montane. Fit, features, colour (Arctic blue/orange - fantastic! Glad I didn't go black as they're getting a bit 'samey' aren't they?) and price - reduced for the blue. Out of stock at Basingstoke but GoOutdoors were excellent and got me two sizes to try on the very next day.

Chuffed.

Great jacket, great service

Items were reserved and ready and waiting for me in the Hanley Store for pickup. I told the female till operative that I had seen one of the jackets ordered cheaper elsewhere and she duly honoured the Go Outdoors Price Match Promise, beating the lowest online price by 10%. Thank you very much for doing that and for an easy collection experience. The jacket itself is lightweight and warm with the usual Montane attention to detail. Probably won't get the maximum benefit from it now until Autumn/Winter as Spring is just around the corner but no doubt it will do its job of keeping me warm around town when the time comes.

montane featherlite

The montane featherlite is a great replacement for my old mountain equipment puffa and just what I need for strolls around the North East coastline.
Go outdoors are an excellent company brilliant service. Top marks to Mike, John and the staff in Newcastle... all very helpful with thorough knowledge and experience. Ordered the jacket at 16:30 via online in the store and delivered 9:59 the next morning! Priced match with online only store and beat them by 10%.

Montane featherlite down jacket

Super lightweight jacket.extremely warm over a tshirt or hoodie when the temp falls.I stand around a lot at bike racing events and this jacket is always in my backpack for when the temp drops..packs down to nothing.not as warm as the montane ice jacket that i own but still an exception jacket...

Toasty Jacket

Bought this from Gooutdoors for a great price and as promised they price matched and took off 10%. Thank you!

The weight of the jacket, or lack of it, makes you question whether it is possible to be warm in this garment. As others have testified this is no issue at all and has proved utterly brilliant for anything the Norfolk Coast/ Peak District and Wales could throw at me in terms of temperature. I don't suggest you try this in serious rain...will lead to disappointment, a wet body and a very soggy looking garment. I bought a Montane Alpine Event Endurance for that...seriously great jacket!

Love Featherlight jacket and wore it everyday. It has an amazing ability to keep you warm with a fleece and T shirt etc. I take mine everywhere.

After 11 months constant wear I was disappointed that the padding in mine had moved around to the the point that several areas were insulation free. I went to Gooutdoors and with the assistance of Montane replaced it immediately. Perfect! Two great companies that place the customer first.

The Pertex material looks flimsy but has proved very robust. I have caught it on brambles and other sharp objects and it has proved tough.

I really look after mine and would suggest you try not to wash it too often. The lofting does need special attention and consideration.

Lastly my wife bought the Rab version of this from Gooutdoors. They have both proved to be fantastic. I would say that the Rab version seems to hold itself better and the ribs are stiffer. I tried a Rab XL version on but it just made me look chubby. The Montane cut, especially the shoulders makes for a more V shaped look that I guess we all want.

Excellent microdown

Have had this micro down jacket for a few months now and am delighted with my purchase.
Have been a Rab man for years but this year started buying few montane pieces and this does not disappoint. When worn with a base layer has kept me toasty whilst walking the dog on frozen mornings plus have used on top of pen y fan as a top layer whilst having a food break. Quality garment great in light mist and rain perfect cut for me and love the grey/red colour combo.
Totally recommended.

great down jacket

fantastic jacket i ditched my rab neutrino for this its ultralight (not as durable) but great windproofness, does shed light rain (but not waterproof) you do need to size up with the jacket as its a tight fit. wored well on my winter mountain leader assesement kept me toasty and warm in a snow hole for 2 nights. weighs nothing to keep in your bag. even has down on the inner of the hand warmer pckets ! only thing montane could do to improve it would be use hydro down! like rabs micro light.

So warm and light

Bought this jacket towards the end of the winter season so only had a couple of chances to wear it so far but I have been impressed with how warm it is for such a light jacket. Definitely the right buy for me as it is more versatile with layers than buying a much heavier jacket such as the rab neutrino

great for photography

My wife and I are wildlife photographers and this involves standing around outdoors for hours on end. This down jacket has proved a winner, even in sub zero temperatures all that is required to remain warm is a base layer and a thin fleece under the down jacket. In really cold-windy weather I have warm this over a Blazewear heated Gillet and have remained warm when other photographers have long since packed up and gone home.

Although not classed as waterproof I have found that the jacket has kept me dry in heavy showers and in prolonged drizzle, surface water just shakes off and I have not been in any situation where the down filling has . become saturated, for insurance I now carry a Montane Minimus smock in the jacket pocket and this combination has kept bone dry and warm when standing for several hours in torrential rain and is now my preferred option over my Paramo gear as it is much lighter to wear.

Like a previous reviewer I have sustained a small tear in the back of the jacket but a little nifty work with a needle and thread and a dab with a black waterproof Sharpie pen a made a virtually invisible repair. Barbed wire fences or thorns can damage any jacket of this type, definitely my fault

The jacket would probably be an overkill for a heavy exercise situation but for outdoor photography or nature watching it is the best coat I've ever owned

Superb

I don't normally write a review about products I buy but I felt compelled to write this after being so impressed with it. Recently wore the jacket on a visit to the Cairngorms mountain and found it extremely warm. I've just returned from the Icelandic highlands & spent time stood still photographic the Northern Lights and this jacket kept me warm with -15 temperatures. Very good wind resistance, extremely warm - most suitable for prolonged exposure to cold temperature. I wouldn't wear this on a physically demanding hike as it's too warm. Excellent product for the price

Outer fabric isn't very durable

I love the lightness & warmth of this jacket but within a week the outer Pertex fabric has a small tear in the back. Not great for an expensive jacket that's being used for dog walking. I've had my Rab for a couple of years & it's proved to be far more durable

Excellent, and well worth the money

Bought to brave some seriously chilly temperatures, yet wanted it to look good. Was great, even in -22C snowstorms, and comfortable. Windproofing excellent, and good for light showers too.
Feels good quality, looks smart, packed down small for travelling, and weighs next to nothing.

Great jacket

I love this jacket, it's very light, very warm and a perfect fit. I would definitely recommend it. I can't fault it.

Deceivingly Warm

I'd been shopping around for a light packable down jacket for a while and was torn between this and the RAB option. I'm so glad I opted for this one, its so light yet very warm - you only need a t shirt/baselayer underneath due to the quality of the down and wind resistant material, bang a fleece on and you'll be fit for the colder winter months.
I was lucky enough to get this at a bargain price with the Go Outdoors price match minus 10% offer, great service and a great product!.
Highly recommended
