Men's Hi-Tec Footwear Size Guide

Measuring tips

Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.

Feet: Measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.

Remember, feet can expand over a quarter size during a full day's walk so ensure you get the right fit.

Great Boots For The Price

I was looking for a good cheapish pair of walking boots and having checked out many outlet stores in the area could not find a pair in my size (10)! Decided to try Go Outdoors and was immediately assisted by the staff in finding what I wanted.
So far these boots have been great. Worn them straight out of the box to go on a reservoir walk and they were a great fit. Have worn them on 3 or 4 five mile walks and they have been really comfy with appropriate walking socks.
So far not been subject to too much persistent wet, so remains to be seen how waterproof they will be? But so far so good.

Decent walking boots

Struggling to find a pair of walking boots that fit, rang Go Outdoors and they advised they had a number of larger size walking boots to try. These boots were the best fit of all the boots I have recently tried on and received a great deal with compare and discount. Boots (size 13) have been used for four 6 mile walks on different terrain and in different weather, so far please with their performance. Waterproofed well before using.

Hi tech Ottawa boot

Excellent value and a great boot. I have used these boots for the last 3 years for grouse and pheasant beating, not easy terrain. They have been comfortable and waterproof all that time but now unfortunately a small split has appeared so I am off to get another pair which will hopefully last another 3 years.

HI-Tec ottawa II

a little unimpressed, felt great when i tried them on in the shop but after walking in them for a few days i found the boot folds/bends over the top of my toes and squeezes them down making the boot uncomfortable so not the best.

Good value

For general moor and fell walking they are ideal, I had a pair of Hi-Tech Scar Fell which were showing their age, I did the Dalesway in them, terrible weather most of the time and feet kept dry, these are very similar the them, I've already covered about 50 miles in them, comfortable from the start, so I'm looking forward to the same service. Incidentally I use Neats Foot oil (saddle dressing)on them, as I've used on all my boots since 1963, better than Dubbin and not greasy!

Not waterproof

I purchased these from another shop (Not Go), and found them to be very comfortable out of the box, however on the first outing I discovered that they were not waterproof. Admittedly, they were used in very heavy rain while walking up Ben Nevis. I noticed that the adhesion between the upper and sole was not complete. Sent them back and the shop returned my money. I am a big fan of High Tech as an economical but lasting boot, however I will now pay the extra for a Scarpa.

Capital boots

Have had these for four months now, primarily as gardening boots (they have had extensive use) and recently used for a number of long walks across wet and muddy terrain. They have proved very comfortable and entirely waterproof. They are not the lightest but well constructed and buff up nice and shiny if you like that sort of thing! I was a little sceptical about how well a boot at this price point would perform but I have been very happy with them.

Waterproof they are not

I've had these a couple of months, initially they were fine , very light, very comfortable. As I detest walking in wellies I bought these with the onset of winter in mind. My walk is about 2 miles and ankle deep wet grass is about as much as I ask them to cope with, they don't. Water ingress is around the welds on the toes so it isn't coming over the top of the boots. I have E-mailed Go and await their response.
