A rugged year-round fleece with reinforced stretch fabric in the areas that matter.
The Berghaus Men's Fortrose Pro is a softshell/fleece hybrid jacket that gives a great balance between warmth, weight and protection.
Its main body is constructed from Berghaus' AT optic fleece, which is a midweight, pill-resistant and thermally efficient fleece with a marl look. The sholuders, arms and hips are all reinforced with tough stretch polyamide fabric, giving you extra protecion and performance.
Treated with DWR (durable water repellency), these stretch panels will shrug off light rain, stand up to scrapes (as well as regular rucksack wear), and allow you to move without restriction.
Three pockets - one zipped chest pocket, two zipped handwarmer pockets
Stretch binding at collar, cuffs and hem

Bought this jacket for day to day wear as I've been buying Berghaus for many years.
What a disappointment! The jacket offers very little warmth and the wind whips right through it.
Worst of all is how the jacket has worn, pilled up all over the front and looks VERY scruffy.
After speaking to Berghaus customer services department I've been told that this is normal wear and tear!
Yet another company getting things manufactured on the cheap to cut costs.
I for one won't be buying Berghaus again.

This is a great fleece for about town day-to-day wear. If out on the hills in it, you will soon find the wind cuts strait through big time. Doesn't quite feel as warm as it looks.
Quite a generous fit -so much so that you can wear ordinary clothes underneath it quite comfortably. The pockets are very well placed and superb. Packs down quite small as well. Quite light as well.
Has a really reassuring overall quality feel too. If it kept the wind out and was that bit warmer it'd be 5 stars.

Good, but flawed
I think this is a very nice looking fleece, and it's good at keeping you warm until the wind picks up; a wind-proof layer is needed to allow this to do its job in those conditions. The upper pocket is quite small; I can just fit a Nexus 5 phone in there -- some of the larger phones like the Galaxy Note or the new brick of an iPhone aren't likely to fit.
I found the jacket itself to be generously sized; typically I have to go for 3XL, but the 2XL is actually a decent fit in this case.

Grey Fortrose jacket
I bought this jacket last Nov for occasional everyday use. Since then I have become more and more disappointed with it because it has become badly pilled across the lower front to the extent that I can no longer use it for best. Rather a pity since I paid more than I would for a normal fleece that would not have had this problem!. March 2015

Bought this fleece to use primarily on the golf course during the winter and it's just the job. Kept me really warm on a cold blustery day and I can use it with my Gortex Paclite jacket over the top if it's wet. Also I can use it off the course for everyday use. I think golfers should consider 'outdoor' clothing instead of golf brands as they are just as good quality, usually better value and more versatile.
