Scarpa footwear is made in European sizes, which allows for a more accurate fit as the 'gaps' between sizes are smaller. Each European size is roughly 3/4 of a UK size.
As with all walking footwear, we advise moving up a size from your normal shoe size to allow room for thicker socks and for your feet to expand during a long walk. If you fall between sizes you should always go for the larger size.
We have trained footwear advisors in all of our stores - if you have trouble finding the right boot for you please pay us a visit and we'll be happy to help. You can also find out more about choosing, fitting and caring for walking footwear in our online Footwear Buying Guide.
I bought a size 39 as that is my normal size and they are very comfortable however the left foot is a bit too tight with my toe right touching the inside front which is a concern and a worry as this size is normally spacious enough. However when I checked the size on the inside it stated that they were a size 5 1/2!!!! Had I known this I would not have bought that size. I'm really annoyed as I have worn them and so now am unable to return them. I really think the order details for sizes should show European and U.K. sizes to avoid this problem! I really wish I had bought the size 40. Ow as they are comfortable.

very comfortable and I have been able to fit custom orthotic foot beds into them I wear them everyday, the soles of the shoes do not grip very well on slippery surfaces

All style little substance
Having owned these for 8 months my verdict on the claims made:-
Waterproof \ breathable yes
Protective - uppers yes, soles no
Cushioning - definitely not. Under the ball of the foot the insole has collapsed and there appears to be no middle layer to cushion the foot.

Possibly the best walking shoe I have ever owned!
I have a fairly wide forefoot so I bought these as a replacement for my old worn out Merrells which have done me proud for the past few years. They are a lovely fit, extremely comfortable and feel good and supportive when walking. I can see me buying another pair to keep for when these wear out in a couple of years time.......
