A compact camping gas cartridge using a butane/propane blend.
The Coleman C300 Gas Cartridge is a threaded self-sealing gas cartridge, ideal for use with camping stoves. The gas cartridge uses a (70/30) butane/propane blend which creates a consistent and steady burn across a range of temperatures. Connecting and disconnecting the gas canister from a stove is safe and easy thanks to the safety valve seal.

Didn't realise that this had replaced the coleman c250 size.
It can no longer be stored inside their own coleman fyrestorm stove as it is too tall! Will be looking for a different brand.
It appears that this C300 cartridge replaces the C250 cartridge was always the world standard for backpacking. For that reason, many small cook pots for backpacking are designed in such a way that a C250 cartridge fits exactly inside the pot together whit a small stove for easy transportation. So I'll have to find another supplier now because this one doesn't fit in my pot.
In addition to that, the narrower base makes it much less stable when you screw a stove on top of it! The classic lower and wider C250 is also much better in that respect.
And to finish it off, the new cartridges don't work anymore with many stoves like Pocketrocket etc! The pin of the stove that opens the valve when you screw it on is too short on many stoves. So make sure to try out if it works with your stove because chances are it won't.
I won't be buying Coleman canisters anymore and I hope that GoOutdoors will change to a supplier that manufactures proper C250 cartridges that has been the standard for decades instead of this Coleman C300.
You know when manufacturers say 'only our products are compatible with each other' (as often stated on the products themselves)...? Well, when it comes to this gas, they're not kidding.
I have bought several Coleman gas cartridges and used them with an old stove pretty well.
Then I started experimenting with newer stoves, and bought some two different OEX stoves an Xt-4 and an Xt-2.
I used the Xt-4 no problems with an old cartridge, Yellowstone I think, and then tried to use the Xt-2 with the new Coleman I had bought at Go Outdoors, it didn't work so assumed the stove was faulty took it back and got a replacement, which also didn't work!
After experimenting I found that NEITHER OEX stoves would work with a Coleman cartridge -I had bought two- and my old stove needed to be really severely tightened down on a Coleman to get reliable amounts of gas.
The two OEX stoves work perfectly well with every other cartridge I have tried from 100gm to 500gm from budget to MSR (except, obviously the differently valved Campingaz), the only problem anything has is with the Coleman, I can't measure exactly but it seems to me that the Coleman's thread length is shorter than other makes, not by much, but enough.
In short, make sure you have a tried the Coleman cartridge with your stove BEFORE you go out into the wilds.
Seriously compromised by this product when it didn't didn't work on my Alpkit Kraku or my friends Optimus Crux during a 4 day trip out across the Cairngorms , luckily one of us was carrying a jetboil 270g canister which worked fine
Bought this with an OEX XT-2 stove and the connection was faulty - gas wouldn't come out . I know it was the bottle because the stove worked perfectly on another bottle (different make )
Works perfectly fine with my stove.
