great watch

i have had garmin and tom tom watches, this watch is my favourite, the satellite reception is almost instant the battery life seems to last forever.the route tracking is great i have down loaded the offas dyke route and i have followed it on the watch.the multi sport functions are numerous with more metrics recorded than you could ever want.its now at a cheap price as well because of the new spartan so in my opinion a bargain

Ambit3 Peak

This is an excellent piece of kit that excels my expectations. I use it primarily for sailing as the GPS and compass functions provide a very good and accurate backup, commonly guiding me to within 2 meters of a mark. I use the speed log (in knots thanks to an app on Movescount) all the time and have VMG and headings as well as location and barometric measurements. The compass is without doubt the best that I've used on a watch and matches the ships compass very well I've yet to take exact measurements from transits. The data provided is superb and the ability to save the data as a GPX file and then use it on a digital chart is very useful. The facility of storing way-points (I have 53 stored) is a further godsend. On top of all that is the watch's ability to record my walks across Dartmoor although I have yet to make use of the heart monitor (which I should as I am over 70 now!) and the feature whereby the watch communicates with my phone and tells me when I have an incoming call, message or email is just fantastic, particularly out at sea when it is not always possible to even hear the phone let alone get to the thing before it stops ringing. In short; should the fog come down while I'm at sea I feel quite confident that I could find my way home with just this watch, albeit, it's just the backup to paper charts and dead reckoning...
