Very disappointed in this product not only does it take hours to recharge in the car etc. when I came to use it, I didn't even get 1 & 1/2 charges out of it . Complete waste of money
I bought this from the Cardiff GO store last summer for charging my android phone when camping without electrical hook-up and when I'm out geocaching. It is a solid robust bit of kit that is beautifully machined and well built. The first time I used it I made the mistake of using my phone to stream music whilst trying to charge it and the torpedo went flat meaning I couldn't fully charge my phone overnight. This little gadget is not designed to run a device whilst charging it, only charge it. I've since worked out that the best way to get the two full charges (as stated by the manufacturers) is to put your phone into flight mode or switch it off completely to charge it. Also, if your device has less than about 20% power you might not get the full two charges. Charging the Torpedo up from a USB on a PC is pretty quick and the LEDS let you know when it is fully charged. Charging via a 12V car socket takes longer, but you can charge your device from it at the same time which is cool. There is a handy "power remaining" button that shows you how much power 33%, 66% or 99% is left in the Torpedo. You can charge up to two devices at the same time, but I haven't tried doing this yet. The internal battery memory is good - I fully charged it, put it somewhere "for safe keeping", which I promptly forgot about, - when It did finally reappear several months later it was still fully charged. It was fully charged and ready to go straight out of the box too.
Overall, this is a tough little gadget, that according to the makers, if you break it they'll replace it no questions asked. It's quite weighty, but that is testiment to the quality of build. I've seen other portible chargers on the market for a similar price, but they don't look or feel as solid and tough as this one. To be honest I think you'd struggle to break this without belting it with a big hammer or chucking it off a high building.
Pleased with my purchase. Thanks GO for stocking this (They were the cheapest I could find it too, without even doing a price match)
