Men's Salomon Footwear Size Guide

Measuring tips

Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.

Feet: Measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.

  1. Place a sheet of paper on the floor and against a wall
  2. Make sure you are wearing the same socks that you would normally wear with this type of shoe
  3. Wearing these socks, stand on the sheet of paper with your foot perpendicular to the wall and your heel against the wall.
  4. Then use a pen to draw a line just in front of your big toe. Repeat for both feet and take the longer distance to determine your size.
  5. Using a ruler, measure the distance between the wall and the line you drew to find your size.

Remember, feet can expand over a quarter size during a full day's walk so ensure you get the right fit.

Comfortable, not durable

Very comfortable, not very durable. I went on a thru hike with them and at the 400 km mark the soles were coming off and there were holes around the toe, also not at all waterproof. Not sure if I just got a dud pair but my pair were not good at all

Had 3 pairs of Salomons, the2nd were a replacement, whilst comfortable from the box they are best used as a 2season boot, fine when new but after a couple of months they wet out quickly no matter how often you clean and treat them. If you want a waterproof boot look elsewhere.

Salomans quest 4d 2 gtx men's size 11

Hi. Alot of my friends have these boots and they love them. I bought them at a great price from go outdoors using price match. Used them in the house first. Everything was fine. I have since ventured outside so now I can't return them. They have started to hurt my feet alot. Obviously not the boots for me. So im a bit gutted as it's money lost. Live and learn I suppose. But the service and advice I received before I bought them was fantastic.

Awesome hiking boots.. tried them out on a short hike in rubbish weather. So far so good. Fit perfectly, really comfortable and have been fully waterproof so far.. Next test Scafell pike!!
Worth every penny of the £125 price tag.. even better when you price match 5 days later ??

Decent Boot

I’ve only done about 40 miles in these boots but I like them. Comfortable out of the box, plenty of support without being heavy, at the price I think these are good value. No issues to date with the waterproofing.

Second time round repeat buyer

Salomon credited the purchase price of the original (cheaper) boots after a split rendered them useless. I however had no hesitation in replacing them with another pair of Salomons. Although I upgraded to the Quest 4D 2 as I clearly needed something more durable (these are definitely a step-up from my old pair, but also a good bit more expensive, even on sale). Every bit as comfortable, barely needing to be broken in at all... straight out of the box ready for the trails. Very happy with these boots, and very happy with both Salomon and Go Outdoors customer care and after-sales-service.

Salomon 2d GTX walking boots

The boots are a great fit and comfortable to wear. The staff member who advised us took his time to explain the different boots and asked lots of questions to help him advise us on the best boots for the task. Over all we have bought 2 pairs of boots and the same guy helped both times. I gave 5 stars just because of the price. I know there good boots but price is always a key factor for me

Best boot ive ever worn ! I always break in new boots and need insoles ,not so with these. Straight out of the box and up a monro!! Mega comfy and always kept my feet dry. Had them for near 2 years now and have used them on some of the highest and most remote mountains in Scotland down to walking the kids to school. I'm planning another pair just to keep in case they were to discontinue them .

Sadly not waterproof

I needed some comfortable, waterproof hiking boots. The Salomon looked good and reviews were positive. Sadly, if they were ever waterproof, it didn't last long. I've worn them 5 or 6 times hiking over wet terrain. At first my left toes were a little damp, now they're uncomfortably wet. No good for hiking in wet conditions, they will have to go in the bin. These Salomon boots have been a big disappointment and an enormous waste of money.

Excellent Boots

I bought these to replace a pair of Scarpa boots that I have been wearing since 2014. There was nothing wrong with the Scarpa boots apart from the fact that the insole had worn through at the heel. Instead of just getting a new set of insoles I decided to try a pair of Salomon Quest 4D 2 GTX, and I am glad I did. At first it took a little getting used to, as my Scarpa boots were not as tall as these, but there was absolutely no breaking in period, and they were extremely comfortable right off the bat. I haven't had any issues with the waterproofing yet, although I must stress that I don't actually wear these for hiking. I wear my boots as normal everyday shoes, so I'm hoping that I can get a good three years of everyday use out of them. They are the most comfortable boot I've ever worn.

Leaky boots not waterproof - pair after pair. BEWARE

These are the most comfortable hiking boots I have had. However they are not waterproof as advertised. I am on my 3rd pair now. Each pair has leaked after a few months. Go outdoors send them back and Salomon 'test' them confirm they leak and give a replacement. My latest pair are now leaking after 7 months. The Staff member at Go Outdoors told me they have had loads and loads of these boot returned. If you only use then in the dry they are fine but it defeats the purpose of buying Gortex £140 boots!!! Avoid salomon boots. I have a pair of hi tec £35 boots which have better water proofing after 3 years!!! Quite sad really. Very disappointing

Everything you need

These arrived Wednesday, on Thursday I was climbing up Crib Goch in Snowdonia, they performed well on tarmac, slate, mud, waster, the lot, even tucked into the smallest of divots in the mountain side.

In fact they felt so good that I ran down from the top in them down the Llanberis path.

These should be the only boots you consider. I can’t imagine anything feels or performs as good.

Comfortable boots

Only recently bought these boots so only been worn out on normals paths to try make sure there broke in for my first hill walk in them. But they seem really comfortable and have great support around the ankle. Really looking forward to tackling my first hill in them this week and testing them out properly. Might even be worth 5 stars all going well. Only reason for 4 stars is I haven't properly tested them out.

Solomon Quest 4D 2GTX

One word to describe Go Outdoors Customer Service- Outstanding, one word to describe these boots - appalling. I purchased a pair of these boots in Feb 2017, after the 2nd time of wearing them they began to leak (bearing in mind they had been cleaned and re waterproofed with Nikwax after the first outing). After the 4th time of wearing them and ending up with wet feet I decided to take them back to the Wigan store, the staff in there are brilliant and I was dealt with by a staff member by the name of Rachel, she examined the boots and said she would send them back to Solomon for me and they would have to decide on the further course of action but it may take up to 2 weeks which was fine. Some 6 days passed and I got a phone call from Go Outdoors to say Solomon had deemed them faulty and I was issued with a brand new pair of the same boots. Fast forward 2 1/2 weeks and I wore the new pair for the first time 2 days ago and guess what happened - yes these too leaked (in a different place this time though ??). Back to Go Outdoors again in Wigan to same level of top quality Customer Service, I spoke with the manager - Michelle and explained these were less than 3 weeks old and had been worn once and that these too were leaking. I could possibly understand if they had been £20 but they were £150 ish so you do not expect that from fairly expensive walking boots.. I asked if I may choose a different pair of boots rather than them having to send the boots back to Solomon for Solomon to issue me with another pair of the same boots again having lost all faith in them. I was allowed to exchange them and I got a pair of Mammut Trovats and paid the difference. Really impressed with the boots and even more impressed with the Customer Services and the staff at Go Outdoors in Wigan

Saloman Quest 4D 2 Gore tex mens walking boots

This is my first pair of Salomon walking boots, I am extremely happy with them so far. I have not yet been on any really challenging mountainous walks but they feel so comfy and give me great support, they look great too. I would definitely purchase these again.

Saloman equals stability

I bought my first pair about 3 years ago and without doubt these boots give the best stability. Over the years I have tried Meindl, Scarpa, The North face and a few others, all great boots but none come close to giving the level of support and stability these Salomon's manage to give me. The reason is very simple, the width of the heel, which flares outwards and helps to reduce the dreaded over pronation I am inclined to suffer from - when using any other boots. I badly turned my left ankle a few times playing football a few years back and those injuries have left a permanent weakness in that joint. I am on my third pair, the last 2 being replaced free of charge due to flaws. I cannot envisage using any of my other boots and that is entirely down to the brilliant stability of these Salomon's.
PS I cannot fault the after sales service of either Salomon or Go Outdoors, both were first class.

So far so good

Had maybe 6 or 7 outings with these boots so far and they've been great. First couple of walks got some rubbing on top of one of my feet though that's stopped, guess it got 'broken in' & no trouble at all with them now. Would recommend a couple of break in walks before any big expedition. Gingerly tested out the waterproofing with some quick wading & feet stayed dry. Very happy.

Not waterproof

Would not recommend as around a year old no longer waterproof, i have tried various cleaning waterproofing products nothing has worked

Salomon quest 4d 2gtx

Well folks this is the latest after a completion last week of the C2C .
I purchased these boots by internet and they posted to Australia in April for this trip to the UK.

Buyer beware .......these boots were RUBBISH ......the first day that i got rained on the boots filled with water, and not from going in the tops where my ankles are , the rain ran down my goretex pants on to the boots and straight through the so called waterproof goretex boot and tried to fill them up ,i thought i had trench foot.It was either non existent goretex or had broken down since new in April.
The soles are as thin as Alfoil i felt every tiny bit of gravel ,no doubt when searching for a lighter boot the soles are compromised.....
Anyway the staff at Go Outdoors Ipswich were fantastic .....spoke to Joshua who came straight back to me after talking with Richard his manager i believe ,......and they took them back and i came away with a pair of Meindle vakuum GTX after paying the extra, hopefully a waterproof boot this time .
Well done Go Outdoors will still be fav supplier.
