Men's Footwear Size Guide

Measuring tips

Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.

Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.

Remember, feet can expand over a quarter size during a full day's walk so ensure you get the right fit.

2 years

Had these for two years now and I'm just about ready to get another pair, I haven't used them over seriously hard terrain and I think a more stable boot would be a better choice if that's what you are going to be doing, they cope well with tracks and paths and are very comfortable from day one, they don't need breaking in and are like a pair of slippers in the comfort stakes. If you want a comfy boot that looks pretty good too then these are very good but are not properly waterproof.

not waterproof

Look good and nice fit on but these are NOT waterproof.
Worn dog walking on short grass { football field } and ended up with wet feet from the due on the grass. Returned them and got Scarpa which ARE waterproof

OK but probably not best for heavy use

I bought these boots to replace my Bergaus Explorer boots which I have been using for about 5 years and have been excellent. The Merrell boots are comfortable, light and flexible but I doubt that they are as robust as the Bergaus boots. I have only been wearing them for about 2 weeks and have yet to wear them in the wet, and so I cannot comment on the waterproofing. Sizing is a bit of an issue. I normally wear size 10 in shoes but 10.5 in boots to allow for sock thickness. Merrell sizes are smaller than usual and there are no half sizes. I went for size 11 which seems to be about right but feels slightly loose when walking. This feeling of looseness may be exacerbated by the lacing arrangement which comprises just open eyelets that allow the lace to move freely over its full length - there are no lugs that secure the bottom part of the lace and thus, when tying, one must try to tension the whole length of the lace. Inevitably, the lace will tend to loosen itself when in use. Another minor point is the absence of loops at the back of the boot for ease of putting them on - I have to use a long shoehorn. Overall, they seem to be pretty good boots for general use (dog walking etc.) but, for serious walkers and for heavy use, something more robust would probably be more appropriate.

Longevity - Comfort

I've had these for a year next month (November). I'm not a walker and use them for casual use, shopping, pub, and going out. I use them most days and they are hard wearing, I guess the sole has another 6 months wear. Still comfortable and waterproof. I may buy another pair just in case they are discontinued. Great investment.

Good boots

These are great boots when you get the right size, you must order them at least 1 - 1 1/2 sizes bigger than you usually take. Once I had a bigger size ( tried twice ) they were comfortable and went walking in then right away, I would recommend but PLEASE choose wisely the size.

Great looking boot however BAD FITTING :(

Ive always worn merrells, these looked great and fashionable for casual winter wear, however when i did a flat surface walk i found that the mid section was rather tight and my foot was aching after the walk. MERRELLS have probably are getting the boots made in india, bangladesh, china, taiwan and cenrtainly the fitting have become worse.
