Security and simplicity where and when you need it!, 25 February 2010
By Mountain Goat
A great offer on a set of three good quality and essential climbing aids. The harness is quick to fit with its elasticated leg loops and the waist buckle is smooth but secure.
The crab has a positive feel to the locking ring and is a solid design.
I found the belay device adequate but it does stick every now and again when the rope is under greatest tension.
The chalk bag is basic but good enough for the job.

Great value starter kit, 07 February 2010

Bought this kit last week and have climbed with it three times already...... so far I'm very impressed!
I am a novice climber and find this much more comfortable than the ones I've previously hired at the indoor wall.
This appears to be great value for money, with the individual items coming up at close to £100 if bought seperately.
I tried four different harnesses in the shop and found this one the best fit, it also has the quality and 'feel' of a much more expensive harness.
Only negative as far as I can see it the lack of adjustment on the leg straps (however not a concern for me at this stage as I have no plans to climb outdoors.....yet!!!)

Good Value Climbing Kit, 26 January 2010
By Scott (Mancheser)
Bought this product last year to get me started out climbing.
The harness is good quality for a beginners one and is generally quite comfortable - I'm a big lad so there's a lot of weight on my harness!
The only real downside with this kit is the belay device. I've been told its designed for smaller ropes than most centres use. so I find it sticks a little bit and you have to put a little more. it has deep v slots on the brake sides and the ropes tend to stick on this and the body of the device.
The chalk bag is pretty normal, but very useful.
The crab provided is a very basic locking one and is a heavy steel design but for use at the climbing wall is perfect and works as expected.
One note - the kit i bought had a different harness than this - as i remember at the time this was the picture on the website but the harness with the kit is the red one without the adjustable leg straps - i would suggest that they change the picture!
Overall this is a good beginners kit and I would recommend it to anyone starting out. there's no where you could buy these items separately for this price!
