It is tempting to go for cheaper briquettes but having tried that I have gone back to the Weber ones. Use a starter chimney for easiest lighting. These burn hotter and for longer and make much less ash than the cheaper ones, so actually work out more economical in the end

Having tried numerous other brands of briquettes, I can honestly say that the genuine weber briquettes ignite quicker and last way longer, meaning that you will use less as compared to those cheap superstore brands. Money well spent, and you don't need to worry about your coals dying on you before finishing the BBQ.

These coals burn very well and very cleanly, leaving little ash and what is left is easily removed. We were slightly caught out on our first use because they burn much more easily than other coals that we needed to add more, basically because we thought they'd have taken longer to get started.
Now we've used them a few times, we wouldn't use any other coals on our Weber.
We'd previously always had gas barbecues but these make charcoal almost as easy and don't flavour the food.
