This softshell jacket is as described, windproof, water repellent and an active cut. It's close fitting helps the windproofing. Ideal for relatively fine weather and keeps out the rain for a reasonable time (though I've not relied on it in a major downpour). Used in windy conditions on Striding Edge with no problems and used at 0C with only a Lifa T-Shirt underneath without problems. If your active it'll work.

Wanted something for when a bit too warm to wear my Mountain Equipment windstopper jacket. Nice lightweight windstopper and although NF is now more a fashion brand than functional item (hence the reduction of quality over the years) - this is a good piece of kit.

I pondered the thought of a softshell for sometime as I had never owned one before so I bought this one at the start of the year as an outerlayer and it's really amazing been in some funky weather in the lakes when ascending some peaks and it really did keep the wind out even in windy gap in the middle of Febuary. Also it kept me dry from rain and the ventilation system kept me dry too, wear this with a decent base layer as i did and thats all i needed. I only needed my downpour jacket when it really got crazy it also looks cool in red when you go the pub for a pint.
