Tf bivvy, 29 September 2014

Great bivvy. I read reports of poles snapping whilst being put up but it was extremely easy to erect & stood a good downpour! Looking forward to testing it in winter condition!

Tf gear force 8 speed lite bivvy 1 man, 14 March 2014
By Chris (Wednesbury)
Brought this because I liked the look of it with the porch and sewn in ground sheet, found it to be very easy to put up arrived at the start of a session while it was raining and had this up and pegged out in less than a minute while a friend with the JRC contact 2 man was left out in the rain swearing at me as he put his poles together so certainly an advantage, it went on to be a wash out the first 4 hours very heavy rain an never leaked a drop could also have the door open thanks to the porch, warm at night too, plenty of space for bed, bag, tackle box and food.

Heavy rain and strong winds, 10 January 2014
By Maff (North west)
This is the second updated review of this item
Just so you know I do have the two man version but as it doesn’t really matter here we go
Since purchasing this item in October we have experience high winds and heavy rain.
My Aim was to test this thing to see what it could take and I have to say I am totally impressed however there is room for improvement (as always)
Lets look at some bad points first. The door gets muddy due to the design and is very hard to keep clean, the clear window lets water in at the bottom due to the way it is stitched some of the component parts have started to rust, the groundsheet is also thin. There has been water getting in through some of the stitching at times. Not quite sure of the purpose of the little hat it has or as my so called buddy calls it “Its winter skin” The pegs are no good you will need proper ones.
Forget about saving time on the bank setting up the bivi by the time you have pegged it out it doesn’t matter but it does pack away very quickly.
The very worst thing about this bivi is trying to dry it out there is no easy way you practically have to put it up to dry it.……BUT……The water that got in was cleared with a single tissue.
Don’t stand on your door it won’t get muddy and spend the time rolling it away as you should
Nothing you can do about the water on the clear door or unfortunately the rings that are rusting.
Put another groundsheet down first to save damaging the thin one.
Overall this thing has been battered so far this winter and has been out 85% of the holidays and weekends since its purchase so it has seen very heavy rain and 40+ miles an hour winds, and its first frost. So what do I think of it NOW?
I’ve have in my garage the original Nash titan and a nearly new chub SC bivi but I really like this thing, I don’t think for a minute it will stand the weather the other two will but it has really stood up to a reasonable challenge and laughed it off and stood firm much to my extreme satisfaction during the storms. I also like the sewn in groundsheet as it keeps vermin out. Zipping up the door a quarter way, keeps eyes on the rods day and night and with the wind at your back and everything else out
This two man version gives you loads of room and consequently, out of the three I have?
I prefer to use this one, for all its faults its good for the money although I’ve notice the two man has gone up this year but it will make an excellent Summer bivi for France due to the bug proof capabilities of the Sewn in groundsheet (no mozzy net though). You have to remember what you are paying and not what you could be paying.
Ive dropped it a star due to its rusting attachment rings and poor door design

Hope you found that useful
