The katana is an awesome shoe, great fit and shape. I found it great on both steep and vertical terrain, and very comfortable once broken in. They do give about half a size so buy them slightly o the tight side.
Ignore those saying they wear through quickly, this shouldn't be a problem for people who have good footwork and don't drag their toes up the wall!
Poorly Built, 24 April 2015

I would second the one star review earlier as I had 2 sets of these both of which delaminated at the toe in less than 3 months after average use at the indoor wall. To be fair go outdoors replaced these without any hassle but the shoe has a fault with the toe rubber which sits proud and can easily start to come unpicked under normal use. Its a shame as these are a good shoe technically but for over £100 I expect more than a couple of months use.
Excellent all rounder with durability, 19 February 2013
By Mongo (Peak District)
I've had several pairs of these, (LOL I've had loads of loads of different boots over the years.) These are a great all rounder - sensitive enough on grit bouldering, enough last support for limestone edges and sport climbing, quick to get off (not that you need to - they are pretty comfy), the rubber is pretty sticky - not quite 5.10 sticky but not far off. Lasts well compared with most boots - way longer than boreal quattro or 5.10 or evolv - maybe not quite as long as scarpa soles, but way stickier. Can use at the Wall too because of this durability.
They do stretch a little (leather does but it stinks less) so buy them tight. Sizing is small - I'm usually an 8.5 in 5.10 anaszi velcro and normal shoes, but I'm a 7.5 in these,
Brilliant all round climbing shoe., 14 November 2012

The katana is an excellent all round performance shoe. With a slightly wider toe box area, I find these shoes comfortably accomodate my long toes with a very precise fit. The rubber is Vibram XS Edge, as used with many other shoes and brands, so to suggest that the Katana rubber is in any way compromised, has no credible foundation. I have found Katanas don't stretch very much and retain their shape pretty well for the duration of their life.
poor service/poor build, 01 July 2012
By climber (Leeds)
I bought a pair of these and was at first impressed but both shoes went through at the toe within seven weeks. I returned them to Go Outdoors who in turn returned them to the distributor (Lion/Lyon?). They said it was due to wear and tear on abrasive surfaces. I pointed out that thias might include climbing walls, that I am not a novice nor a 'toey' climber and that I have never gone through shoes in less than seven months before. Don't buy La Sportiva - the service is rubbish and these shoes (asking around including at the shop in my wall) tend to split at the toe. Also told by others that their customer service is poor. The seven weeks I had with them was good but very expensive so unless you're a millionaire - stay away from them.
