These are fab but didnt like these round tablets. I found the sqauee ones so much better. A must have for camping. Good burn times although reduced cooking time in the wind. Small and easy to store

I first used these about 30 years ago when I joined the army, my god how time flies! My son is going to a festival and I thought I'd get him a stove, this "old fashioned " hexy block stove couldn't be easier. I've used them all around the world, I'm sure it will survive a "tough" weekend. Easy to carry, cheap, clean burn, pretty much all you need.

Works perfectly with a steal mess tin,
It fits perfectly in my military Dpm water bottle pouch that holds my mess tin.
I wanted to create a survival kit like the one in lofty wise mans says survival guide.
The hexi blocks don't smoothly fit in I rapped them in tin foil for they where getting damaged but now it is hard to open and close.
Over all good.
I would have gave it more stars if for not this small problem also there weren't more stars.
A must have., 18 October 2013
I've been using one of these hex burners for 20 odd years and have only now had to replace it!
It's a must have piece of kit. Smaller, lighter and easier to pack than a gas stove with fuel cans.
I would suggest using it with the basic aluminium (rectangular) billy tins. The burner packs away nicely inside the top tin with enough space to squeeze in a compact set of cutlery (KFS), a ziplock of seasoning and if you wrap the above in a small trek towel it doesn't rattle inside the tins.
If you add a few dry sticks you can greatly reduce the number of fuel blocks used.
Of course you don't have to use fuel blocks at all but they are very efficient and easy.
As a wind break, try placing the stove inside the other billy tin. You can also dig a small hole (slightly larger than the stove) and as long as the air can get to the fuel you're good to go.
The hole is good for burying any waste food as well!
A long review but hopefully helpful!
Useful bit of kit., 02 August 2013

This is pretty much, in my opinion, an essential bit of kit. It is lightweight and small enough to tuck away for an emergency use. I actually use these in preference to other burners and now don't carry anything but these.
Yes, they can be a bit tricky at times and they aren't...hmmm...elegant. However they are brilliant at making things hot, which is the idea, isn't it? Sometimes it is the handle of your cooking pan, but that isn't always the fault of the burner but of your pan design. (I have burnt my fingers numerous times!)
I have found using 2 tablets is fine for most food..but 3 gets things piping hot... just don't use 3 at once. 2 initially, then add the 3rd as they burn down. The 3rd gets lit by placing it close to the 2 about to burn out.
This loses a star for the difficulty in getting the tablets alight. They'll light no problem in perfect conditions. In a wind, even a light breeze, difficult. There is a knack tho.. and pretty much it is light them somewhere out of the wind, even if that means getting singed fingers. 2 together light easier than 1. A small gap between them, with the lighter flame in the gap...yeah, they light.
They also cook things x2 when they have a windbreak. Use anything that aint going to burn.
