A running shoe suited to short trails (20-50k) with a great balance of cushioning, stability and underfoot feel.
The Scarpa Neutron Running Shoe uses their 'Genetic' platform with a 6mm drop and integral ESS plate, for great underfoot stability and protection.
Its 3D mesh upper is very breathable, and additional cushioning comes from the use of Auto Lite in the footbed and built into the bsae of the strobel construction.
Dual-density EVA midsole with a six-millimeter drop - rack up the miles in comfort
Lugged sole and (just enough) toe protection for rocky, uneven terrain
Breathable mesh and synthetic uppers keep your feet cool while resisting wear in high-abrasion areas.

Men's Scarpa Footwear Size Guide
Scarpa footwear is made in European sizes, which allows for a more accurate fit as the 'gaps' between sizes are smaller. Each European size is roughly 3/4 of a UK size.
As with all walking footwear, we advise moving up a size from your normal shoe size to allow room for thicker socks and for your feet to expand during a long walk. If you fall between sizes you should always go for the larger size.

Lightweight comfort
I bought these to replace my Merrell all out terrains. I'm not a runner, so I can't review them on their running attributes. I bought them for thru-hiking when gear weight needs to be as low as you can afford or bear.
I've only worn them for a few miles but believe we are going to be very good friends.
Excellent grip.... And the gripping ability on even the wet inclined cobbles outside my house is amazing....
I've yet to get them soaked and see how long it takes to walk them dry.... Which is to be expected on long treks as my feet don't want to be sweating out.
As another review stated, they have a generous fore foot compared to scarpa boots. This is very welcome for those of us that have broader feet.
The front of the sole has a stiffened section that is a good benefit for those stumbled moments or quick descent on your way down when carrying the extra weight of your pack....
The little mesh pocket on the tongue for storing the bows of the laces is a nice touch.
Once I've clocked some miles, I will probably adjust my review one direction or the other. If it's an xtra star? I will probably by a pair to alternate them for longevity

What an awesome pair of trail shoes!
Been running in Salomon for a long time and was sceptical about any other brand. I was wrong to be concerned.
These Scarpa Neutron are lightweight, wider in the toebox than my Speedcross 3 and sufficiently cushioned to run a 50k trail in. I just did 26k in them at the weekend in wet mud and packed trails. The outsole, although not all out agressive was grippy in the mud but had enough tread on them to be comfortable on harder, flat ground.
Can't wait to get them back out on the trail.........might retire the Speedcross and slip the speed laces into these beauties!!!
Bought these for running trails in the lakes and elsewhere as they are supposed to cope with mountainous terrain by reputation... Very comfortable and good grip in all conditions and terrains from scree to muddy paths. Plenty of room inside for a shock absorbing insole and be worn with comfort.
Unfortunately the uppers failed just behind the toe-box after only 150 miles, which is very poor for a trainer marketed at its price-point. As a bare minimum you should get at least double this! Would like to buy again but very poor value if they are only going to go that distance per pair.
