Best boots I've ever bought, 26 October 2016
I'm seeing a few negative comments on these boots an honestly their just full of it, I have done everything in my power to test these boots for durability and they laughed at every terrain and every challenge I threw at them! Honestly these boots are brilliant they are unreal in comfort, grip, stability, breath ability, and weight.
After buying these I honestly think I'll keep buying the 4D's in the future superb boot for anyone looking to do light walks or tackling scafell and its an added bonus that they look absolutely sick
Dreadful!, 18 October 2016

Bought these a while back, they hadn't seen much use, wore them at weekends over this summer and they're fit for the bin! Complete waste of money, appalling quality of build. I'll be leaving the same terrible review for some 6 month old salomon trainers that are already falling apart!
Great Comfort from Day One, 30 September 2016
By Olly P-J (North Somerset)
I bought these in May 2015 and, from the day I first wore them, they were very comfortable and the soles provide support unlike anything I'd experienced before (I used to suffer with foot pains from cheaper boots).
I've been impressed by many of the features. I'd say the waterproofing wore off after six months but surely, all boots need re-waterproofing with regular cleaning? On mine, the leather has cracked behind the toes but that may be due to a lack of care on my part. I do find that, even when double knotted, the laces can sometimes come undone in wet weather. Although, the boot itself stays on thanks to the Lace Lock hooks.
Being only part-leather (and GoreTex), I'd guess they're designed as three-season boots. When I do eventually come to replace them, I'll be looking at Salomon again, being deeply impressed by the soles. These may be too heavy for some people, depending on your intentions.
Short lived excellence, 14 September 2016

First reviewed July 2015 a month after purchase when i gave boots 5 stars, since then have used on 2 long distance footpaths and occasional practice walks covering no more than 500 miles. The boot remains a pleasure to wear and just about functional BUT 1) the sole of the right boot has split 2) the sole of the left boot has worn totally away underneath my heel. Not what i expected from Salomon nor for such an expensive boot.
The perfect boot, 03 August 2016

At my ripe old age I have enjoyed a number of walking boots. I purchased these boots 3 months before completing The Welsh 3 peaks and practised on various Welsh mountains beforehand. From the moment I first used them they where like wearing a pair of slippers but with total grip and support reassurance. Since then I have completed various Cornish walks and the usual amble with and without a dog. Just make sure that when buying you walk around the shop for at least 10 minutes with your usual walking socks to ensure the fit is correct. I made the mistake of buying half a size too small but despite the price purchased a second correctly fitted pair because these boots in my eyes are exceptional. The temptation is to wear them all the time!
