Mens sabretooth soft shell jacket, 07 June 2015
By Macca (Manchester)
Just got back from helm crag having tried this jacket out for the first time it was howling a gale up on the tops and I can 100% confirm this jacket is wind proof, it was blowing so hard it nearly had me on my backside but couldn't feel a bit getting through. Also couple of showers dealt with easily and the hood was a god send in the high winds. Overall excellent piece of kit would recommend it to anyone
Favorite jacket - excellent, 09 March 2015

I've had my jacket for about 18m now and I wear it almost every day in autumn, spring and summer. I love it's look and versatility. Its not a warm winter jacket so make sure you go slightly larger if between sizes to allow for layering up. Mine still looks like new and remains waterproof with a nikwash washed every few months. Love the hood and pockets. The only thing I would change would be the sewn in hanger at the bottom of the neck; it often folds up when putting the jacket in and feels uncomfortable until you reach in and pull it down. Minor niggle aside, I would definitely buy this jacket again!

This jacket at the current price is a bargain.
Staff at Bristol store couldn't be more welcoming or helpful.
Five stars for them too!
Good quality heavier soft shell, 05 October 2014
By DaveMUCC (West Pennine Moors)
Had this for nearly three years now, and it's still my favourite outer layer throughout winter, autumn and spring. Bit too heavy and warm for me for summer use. Good wind blocking capabilities. Obviously needs a hard she'll for much more than light to moderate showers (despite repeated re-proofings). Some wear now visible at bottom of zip, but otherwise has stood the test of regular walking in the lakes, snowdonia, Four Scottish winter mountaineering trips and a few alpine mountaineering expeds.
Not yet seen anything to beat it, except perhaps the Rab vapour rise and VR guide - worth checking out as alternatives.

Seems to be well constructed so far. Tough outer shell material. Very versatile for many activities. It's insulating ability is great for more active on the move stuff, but won't keep you warm when static in cold conditions. Conversely it's easy to just keep on even during more strenuous activity as it breathes well, is comfortable and not bulky. I like the slightly longer arm length, decent sized hood and neck coverage too. Stands up to short showers but needs an outer shell for prolonged heavy stuff. Dries very quickly though. Seems to be in keeping with Montane's philosophy of 'Further. Faster'. Has become a jacket for everyday use.
