Romney's of Kendal are famous for their Kendal Mintcake, which was carried to the top of Mount Everest on 29th May 1953, on the first successful expedition to the summit, by Sir Edmund Hillary.
Kendal Mint Cake can easily rank as one of the world's most travelled sweets, giving a quick fix of taste and energy to outdoors enthusiasts exploring every corner of the globe.

A delicious energy boost that was very welcome on the London moonwalk, may have to do more marathons just to buy some more...yum!

I would climb Mount Doom wearing shoes made of nettles, all whilst fighting a South Mongolian Jaguar to ensure I had a lifetimes supply of Romneys Chocolate Kendal Mint Cake.
I also think the 55g version is perfect for a man of my stature, particularly as I look like Nick Knowles.
If it good enough to go up everest, it good enough fo me!, 24 February 2010

An essentail ration on everest, an essentail ration in the lake districts, no matter where it is taken, it still taste as good and gives you that little extra boost! Worth going in every rucksack!
Essential emergency rations, 09 February 2010
By Gnomentum@gmail.com (North Lanarkshire)
This is a staple of all the daypacks I have ever carried, as a good emergency standby. However it's a rare day that doesn't see my 'emergency rations' eaten on the final stretch back to the car or on the way to the pub!
They can get a little bit too hard, if it's cold, but it survives well in even the worst treated 'sacks. The wrapper generally stays in one piece even if the print has worn off and of course it's just as yummy even if it's broken.
