Rambler Treking Pole, 02 November 2015

This will be my fourth walking stick I've bought from Go Outdoors, Ok it's cheap but it is very well made and does what it says on the tin. I have really bad back pains and suffered with my back for just over ten years making walking difficult, with the aid of this stick and the spring system helps greatly taking the strain off my arms and back. It is worth every penny and more and I have had a few other sticks over the years and this one beats them easily.
Take my advice don't buy one, buy two, one for in the house and one in the car so you can't ever be without one as I have done many times with my old age and bad memory.

Having lost three expensive poles in the Brecon Beacons etc., I thougt I would try this budget stick. I have found it excellent for my needs and will never waste my money on more expensive branded poles again.

After a hip operation I've had problems walking or even standing, I bought one to test as it was becoming a chore carrying crutches. What a fantastic decision to try this product out, I've used poles before but never felt confident as most are flimsy but these are well built and rigid (apart from when the shock chord is needed which is a very simple twist of 1 section). I let my friend try as he has severe walking difficulties and his face told me all I needed to know, now I'm going back for more for as these poles have given both of us the confidence to enjoy more days out, without spending half the day sitting or stopping for rests due to the pain. I would highly recommend and I'm no lightweight.
Excellent stick for the money, 01 October 2014

I don't know what the other 2 users did with their sticks but I can only speak as I find.
My wife and I have just returned from a holiday in Scotland at Glen Nevis.
Needless to say we all get old eventually and felt that it was time we both had a stick to aid us on our walks and we both agreed after using the above stick for the first time that the walk we did would have been impossible or very tiring at least if we had not had the sticks.
My wife and I spent a long time in the store playing with the various sticks to make sure we bought the right one for our needs and eventually settled on the high gear rambler trekking pole out of them all and don't regret the choice one little bit.
I very nearly bought a cork handled one but changed my mind in favour of the crook head handle on the high gear rambler trekking pole as it can be leaned on going down steep inclines as well as be pulled on going up hills.
Also I found the crook handle perfect for hanging on your pocket whilst you take photos.
You cant do that with a knob- ended pole
Very light to carry but very sturdy in use (I weigh nearly fourteen stone and it took my weight down hill on rocks and mud no problem)
It gave me the confidence to walk and lean forward downhill on rocks in areas that you could not do or would not feel safe to do without a stick. Very trusty tool.
It was very easy to set length many times for climbing up or down and the anti-shock was a real bonus being able with a little click to turn it on or off.
I can only think the other 2 reviewers must have had defective sticks or over -extended them past the stop mark or didn't tighten them properly.
The 1st walk we did was from the top car park at Glen Nevis to Steille falls and anybody who's done this walk will confirm how treacherous and changing the terrain and paths can be.
All in all a perfect first stick.
Of course, there are sticks to be had for £300.00 or so and if that's what you want pay it.
Finally, if there's one thing I could fault it on although only a minor point is that it does not have a graphite point where-as some of the other(cheap ) sticks do.
Not a deal breaker on purchase though.
Buy it, set it properly and enjoy it.
