Amazing Quality, 07 September 2011
By Baz (Merthyr Tydfil)
This tent is by far the best tent I have ever owned and is VERY well made.
We are a family of four with a very large giant breed dog, this tent is by far big enough for all of us and the usual camping equipment. The bedrooms are big enough to house a double in each, with floor space to walk around/store clothing.
The living area is MASSIVE, More than enough room for table and chairs, kitchen stand etc. On our last trip, we had our neighbours around for breakfast with their 2 children and there was still room for more!
Putting it up is difficult if you are a new to this style of tent but, after the first time you'll have no problem at all.
This tent is highly recommended and with the price match offer, it's a no brainer!
I would also recommend the carpet and footprint option.

Fantastic Tent, 05 September 2011
By Royston (Sheffield)
After months of doggedly reading review after review on every tent under the sun, I kept coming back to the Montana 6. I almost lost my senses and bought a Glamping canvas bell tent (or bell-end tent as my beautiful GF keeps calling them), but practicality won the day, and I'm so glad it did.

We spent a few days last year in the lake district in a Vango Omega 350. Excellent expedition tent, but not really suited to 2 fully grown adults and an 8 month old baby. We went down to the Sheffield Go Outdoors and I had an idea that a Hi Gear Kalahari 8 would be OK for us and I wouldn't be in the doghouse for spending too much money. Luckily they had the Kalahari and the Monty on display, and Mrs R was taken with the Monty straight away. The large windows, the bedrooms at one end, and the light roof all made for a bright airy space, in contrast to the darkness and claustrophobic feel of the Kalahari.

The Monty is very well put together and the attention to detail is great. The window blinds roll down into small stitched envelopes below the windows. The roof sides of the tent can be propped open with velcro sticks to aid airing. there are small 'weather windows' next to the floor of both bedrooms so you can peep out and see what the day brings from the comfort of your sleeping bag. The electric hook up feature came in useful too. (basically a small hole with a zip to allow a plug to be brought into the tent.)

I also liked the velcro retainers that lead up to a central hook where you can hang a light from and keep the cable tidy down to the floor.

The best thing about this tent is the space. It's definitely a tardis tent, looking smaller outside than in. We bought the footprint and the carpet and it made so much difference. We could lie on the floor with the little man during the day and play away in comfort.

We had the bedrooms as one large space so we could listen out for the wee man during the night. There was enough room for two airbeds, a travel cot, and all our clothes with floorspace to spare.

We spent a week in Scarborough and the first couple of nights were freezing. The electric blow heater had to be called upon during the night and after that it was plain sailing. The tent endured a day of heavy rain and 20MPH winds. We eventually gave in when the weather forecast said gale force winds and torrential rain on the day we were due to take the tent down and pack up, so we went home a day early. Not camping as I used to know it, but very very comfortable and very relaxing.

The only downside was trying to fit it back in the bag! I've watched the youtube video and I'll attempt it again in the garden tomorrow.

Highly recommend the Montana 6, 31 August 2011
By Peter (Barnard Castle)
We recently upgraded to a Montana 6 from a smaller tent and are very pleased with the unit. The tent was easy to pitch and was very solid once erected - even only using half of the guy ropes. The plastic pegs worked well in the rocky ground.
Overall it stood up to the cumbrian weather well.
The windows are large and plentiful, so it gave a very light and airy feel to the tent (all of the windows can be closed using zip-up curtains). The small enterance porch is a very useful addition to keep the rain out when entering or leaving the tent - in good weather it can be used as a handy storage area as you can use the other two larger doors.
The tent was very spacious as there are only three of us - however I think it could fit 4 or 5 without being squashed.
When we first pitched the tent, we found a small hole in the middle of one of the windows, upon return from our trip we returned it to the store and after a quick inspection they replaced it for a brand new unit - great service! They were surprised that there was a fault and said it was the first of this tent that had been returned - so it wouldn't stop me fully recommending this tent to anyone. If I had to go out and buy another tent, I would choose this one again.

Better than all the rest we have had, 28 August 2011
By Robert (Sheffield)
I have owned a number of tents over the years but after spending 1 night in the wet decided they all had to go and Monty here we come, I purchased it last year and waited in anticipation to use during our summer holiday in Cornwall. It did not disapoint me it was just what i wanted, it was quality. More than enough room for 2 adults and a teenager. We purchased the carpet and it adds that extra warm under foot. Its as i say better than all the other tents we have had. We added the awning for the extra room nearly had to have 2 pitches due to its size. The only thing i could fault but its not a fault is the side entrance i would say if it was 50% bigger it would give you more room but don't let this put you off. From the pegs to the poles to the sewn in ground sheet this was a pleasure to use and would not go back to any of the others i have had. Pay the extra and you will not be disapointed

1st time with Monty, 19 August 2011
By Philip (Lancashire)
We are new to camping and having 2 young children, we wanted something with room for them to play in when the weather is wet (this is Britain!). Having watched the pitching videos we started. It was a little bit more difficult than the video's suggest but it was our 1st time! The pegs are colour coded for ease but most are plastic and pitching on slightly stoney ground damaged a few of them and will need to be replaced. It felt very sturdy once up. Loads of room in the tent and brilliant air vents and head room (might build an upper floor there's so much of it). My wife loves all the windows, which makes it a very light and airy. The Porch is great for muddy boots and keeps the rain out of the tent itself. It took 2 attempts to get it packed away into the bag (but it was wet - yes it had rained!). Bought the footprint, just the carpet to buy then it's home sweet home! A quality tent. Could go raving on about it. Can't wait for Wales in September. Brilliant family Tent, highly recommended.

Awesome Tent, 19 August 2011
By MBW2011 (Warwick)
Have just been camping in Dorset in the flash floods. Two weeks of rain fell in half an hour and the Montana 6 stayed bone dry. We had the footprint underneath and although it felt like we were walking in a waterbed for a while - no water entered the tent. This is a really good investment and a lovely family tent - well worth the money!

A great tent, 17 August 2011
By Jim (Daventry)
Having spent considerable time and effort looking at many tents both in person and on the internet I finally settled on the Montana. Gooutdoors price matched another retailer and bettered the price by 10%, a true bargain.

Having just spent a week in the tent, it survived some very wet weather when tents around us hard major problems with water ingress.

Despite the tent having a manufacturer defect, Gooutdoors replaced the tent without a quibble.

Very satisfied with my purchase. If you are after a tent that will survive any weather, is roomy (my 6'2" son had no height issues with it), then this is the tent to go for.

Montana 6, 12 August 2011
By Casper (Norwich)
Just been into Go outdoors in norwich, and i cannot rave about them enough.
Just now purchased my second Montana 6 as i believe this are by far the best tent on the market today.
Their pricing policy is fantastic, and i even took them up on thier price guarantee with an extra 10% of a competitors price, to be honest i thought i would have to explain myself but there was no quibble what so ever.
Superb service from all at the store, and the new model of Montana 6 is as good.
You know you want one, go and buy today you will not be disapointed.

Monty 6, 10 August 2011
By Jimbo (Leeds)
Wow, Wow, Wow!!! This tent does exactly what it says on the tin..... (so to speak) We chose this tent after alot of tooing and frowing from Vango, Gelert & High gear. But so glad we chose the Monty. All of the design features are well thought out and the sewn in groundsheet keeps everything warm and dry. When the sunshines the tent does get very warm, but open all the vents and the breeze can flow through easily. What I suggest is that you buy another pole set for the porch so you can have both canopies open. Also if you have a large family then invest in the awning to increase the living area by the same size again. As we had electric hook up and 4 kids one of which is 6 months old, so had microwave for bottles etc plus all the clothes so we are getting the awning for our next trip to Scotland. Buy this tent and you won't be dissapointed.

Reviews so helpful, 09 August 2011
By annette (lancashire)
We were disapointed that the original tent we wanted had sold out, so started looking for another suitable one and came across the Montanna 6. We read the reviews and they ticked the boxes for us, honest and helpful. We try the Monty out this weekend, can"t wait!!! By the way at Go Outdoors this tent was fifty pound cheaper than anywhere else! Staff are so helpful at the Blackburn Store and know what they are talking about.

Wonderful, 08 August 2011
By danmore (worksop)
To us tenting just got so much better, large living area with great views all round. Easy to put up but was harder to get down as we were on Filey cliffs and yes it was windy.Bedrooms are superb we can even get both our kids travel cots in one bedroom and us in the other, take the centre partition down(unzip) and its one large bedroom where we can all sleep together.Close the zip up blinds and bingo your on your own, nice and private. The tent is tall so no crouching down and i even cooked bacon breakfast inside due to it raining and although its not recommended I found no problems at all in doing it. The only down side is the pegs, the steel ones are no problem but the plastic ones arnt great I broke 2. The last thing I love is all the guide ropes and even the bottom of the tent is mega bright green so no tripping over the pessky tie ropes. Oh and The best thing is the roof is light so it feels like your outside and not in a tent at all but the bedrooms are dark green, great for sleeping in. In all a well thought out tent , can't see how anyone could better it really.FANTASTIC!

Montana 6, 07 August 2011
By Chris Bradford (Lowestoft)
Overall the Montana 6 is a superb tent providing ample living space. I bought this tent on Wednesday and put it through its paces Thrusday until today (Sunday). The tent proved to be watertight and very windproof. We had 2 days of heavy rain and high winds!! It doesn't get all 5 stars from me unfortunately. There is several design faults which Outwell have truly overlooked or don't care about. It's a complete git to put up in the rain due to the poles that are steel. When these are wet there is no grip and it will take you a while to get up. The pegs are completely useless unless you intend to pitch it on a beach!! Outwell really do need to take note and provide a covering for the poles and metal pegs as the provided plastic ones bend/buckle/snap when they hit a stone or are inserted into hard ground. A few other little flaws are in the design of the openings. They should really be sealed with a zip completely and not just sides. (outer doors) Internal fly screens zip completely. Overall a fab tent with a few minor flaws. I would still recommend this tent though!!

Huge Tent for the Family, 04 August 2011
By Hpsm007
Loved this tent, did lot of research and purchased from the Stockport store using the price guarantee and got a great deal.

Sewn in grount sheet makes it perfect for bad weather conditions. However, first time used for a weekend away with the kids and we had a leak, just in one spot but was a bit disapointed as now i'm going to have to deal with it before my next trip.

Bit disapointed that the footprint didn't cover the porch area. It actually frayed on one hoop first time use. A cheaper general groundsheet would serve the exact purpose.

6 man tent with plenty of space for the kids to play in bad weather, unfortionately the sleeping comprtments don't sleep a double and single airbed in each section, would only sleep 6 if sleeping on the floor without airbeds.

When we put the tent up first time, there was a large line on one section, a discolouration. Only something minor but was a bit disapointed as i'm a single parent and it was a huge expense for me to get this tent.

Watch videos to put up many times and found it easy enough to put up with a friend. Took 2 women about 1 hour to put up first time. Need to be pretty strong as the poles are quite heavy but basically pretty straight forward.

Excellent Family Tent, 28 July 2011
By nmthorne (Trowbridge, UK)
As a family of 5, we were looking for a big enough tent for summer camping. We were all set to get the Vango Maritsa 700 before discovering the Montana 6 at a local tent show. What can I say other than we love this tent! It's two huge bedroom pods give us all plenty of space at night and the main living area is more than enough for our picnic table, cooking unit, fridge and chairs with still enough room to play. And the side porch is great for dirty shoes. We even fashioned a hanging rail in the porch one weekend and used as a wardrobe!!

It's very easy to put up and can be erected and secured within 30 mins with two people. We've also bought the footprint to protect the tent on wet / muddy grass and also the carpet for that extra bit of comfort inside too.

This tent is very popular and easy to see why it was awarded 2011 TOTY. Next years purchase will be the front awning extension to give us more room again.

Buy without hesitation.

By Bubz (Essex)
Easy to put up as the previous review check Youtube for uptting it up.
Like a tardis inside.

Not this one it seems to withstand whatever you throw at it.
In short - would recommend this tent every time

Montana, 06 July 2011
By Alty63 (Cheshire)
Bought this tent 2 months ago and it has survived 2 weekend trips so far in the rain so far !
Customer service at both the Go Outdoor stores we have used (Stockport and Manchester) has been excellent. Worth checking out YouTube to check how to put this tent up, because it is quite tricky !

Great tent, 26 June 2011
By Andrew
This tent is excellent. We are a family of five and had loads of space. The weather was awful - strong winds and heavy rain and the tent stayed as dry as a bone (and upright). I was also able to erect it with my 10 year old daughter. For such a large tent it packs down into a holdall with a separate bag for the poles - making it easy to transport with a car. An excellent purchase.

Excellent Tent!!!, 22 June 2011
By Marie (Darlington)
We bought this tent in the sale and got a Bargain!! Its excellent, loads of space, good quality and always keeps us dry and warm. Only thing I have against it is that it takes ages to put up and the poles do not go together easily, needs 2 strong men really. But when up its fab!! Good holiday tent rather than a weekender.
