Great Boots!, 26 September 2011
By johnwr (Kidderminster)
Purchased a pair of Meindl Men's Borneo Pro MFS Boots from Go Outdoors about a year ago and have been very impressed with them. ... waterproof, very comfortable and give great support. Used for many walks in the Lake District and coastal paths as well as local walks in Worcestershire. Best I have ever worn and would recommend.

My first Walking boots, 20 May 2011
By PeterM (Sunderland)
After spending many hours researching the internet and viewing various products in stores i decided my first pair of walking boots was to be the Meindl Men's Borneo Pro MFS.
As i am just starting out i wanted to make sure the boots I buy would provide greatest comfort and value for money. The Borneo Pro MFS offers this in abundance.
WIthin about 5 minutes of wearing them the MFS(Memory Foam System) actually moulds to your heel providing great support and stability. Within about 20minutes of walking they began to feel like i had owned them for years. 1 Month on they feel more comfortable everytime i wear them.
I am extremely pleased with my purchase and the service i received from Go Outdoors call centre and would whole heartedly recomend this product to one and all.

Traditional leather walking boot, 18 March 2011
By John (Richmond)
This is my second pair of Borneos. My last pair lasted nearly 10 years before the sole started to come away from the upper- the leather upper was still in excellent condition. ..and the tread pattern hadnt worn away!
Meindl do appear to have changed the foot last since my previous pair and these arent as broad fitting as my old pair. I had to buy a 1/2 larger. The new pair are still in the breaking in stage, but have been very comfortable straight out of the box, with no blisters of rubbing. Meindl make excellent leather boots. These boots are best suited to dry conditions - rather than bog and wet Scottish mountains. Having no gortex means they breath well and will be excellent on dry sunny days on the hills and mountains of the UK when gortex lined boots would be damp with moisure from your feet ! However saying that I have used them on a wet day on the Pennine way and despite the outer leather being saturated my feet never felt wet. Meindl boots are expensive - but you are paying for German craftmanship, and the leather used is top quality. They will certainly outlast most fabric boots, so don't be put off by the price -if you want a long lasting pair of 3 season boots...which will be just as comfortable on the Lakeland Fells as the Yorkshire Dales.

Well made boots, 08 February 2011
By JohnnyXXL (Manchester)
These boots are very well made and i should get some decent miles out of them over the years. I don't find them too comfortable as standard but having changed the insole for a gel type they are much better. The sole is showing signs of wear early on and i found them slippery in some conditions where my Merrell boots have been 1st class.
would i buy them again??? NO, not at that price.

Best boots I've ever had, 04 October 2010
By tombo (Dartmoor)
I mainly walk on Dartmoor, country paths and the South West Coastal Path .... for this these are perfect. I am thinking of having a second pair more for the Lakes .. I just wonder if the Burmas may be a better choice for there???

Meindl Borneo Pro MFS, 28 January 2010
By EricF (County Durham)
I've owned these boots now for approx eight months. They have consistently proved to be very waterproof, have excellent support and without doubt the most comfortable boots I've owned.
After having fabric boots for the past ten years and now returning to all leather I can say that the change has been very worthwhile. The boots themselves are slightly wider than most and this is a plus for anyone who prefers more room around the ball of the foot. The toe box allows you to be able to flex the toes while at the same time supporting during descents or when covering rough ground. I’ve also used with crampons during the recent snow.
Only downside is that after the first mile or two into the walk the boot laces need to be re-tightened. I've heard that this is a quirky thing with all Meindl's. Once tightened no further problems all day.
Overall I would strongly recommend these boots to anyone wanting to buy a serious 3 season, fell/valley walking boot with a bit of 4 season capability.
