I bought 2 of these last winter and they are fantastic, very warm, very waterproof and flaps keep wind out of ears which stops ear ache on cold days. Highly recommended.

My dad sent me to get this for him when we got the leaflet through the door, as he works outside and goes fishing (and has no hair) this was a perfect for him in the cold winter months especially with the ear flaps. We had a look around at this hat was a bargain at Go Outdoors compared to prices at other retailers...grab yourself a bargain!
Lowe Alpine Trail Cap, 19 January 2011
By Pedro (Chelmsford)
OK, so you can look a bit of a chump with the ear flaps up, but who cares!
You'll be nice and toasty and dry and if the wind does pick up, lower your flaps and the difference is amazing.
Had this for a year now and don't go anywhere without it, excellent kit. (Mine cost considerably more than this too, so grab a bargain).

Super hat, 06 January 2011

Lovely snug, waterproof hat at a bargain price. The tensioning cord runs round the edge of the ear flaps keeping the hat firmly in place. It can also be worn with the flaps folded inside the hat, although it's been too cold to want to try this outside since I bought it. It folds up small enough to easily fit in a coat pocket and carry around everywhere, The wire rim of the peak needs straightening out when the hat is unfolded, but this only takes a second or two. It would be nice to have other colours than black.

This is quite a thin waterproof breathable cap with a microfleece liner so it can be easily stowed in a jacket pocket or worn under a jacket hood if required . Tried it out a few times in the cold weather and it fits snugly; comfortably wrapping over the ears and back of neck. The adjuster at the back ensures it won't get blown off in a sudden gust of wind. The ear flaps can be turned up if needed. The small peak keeps the rain or snow out of your eyes and also stops the front of a hood (if worn) from flapping down. The waterproof outer seems to breathe OK and stops the wind cutting through the microfleece inner.
Thanks Go Outdoors; it arrived the next day after placing my order!

Very versitile hat, 23 December 2010

I have recently bought one of these hats and can honestly say it is one of the best hats I have ever owned. It is extremely versitile and I use it for walking the dog, keeping fit in the cold weather when running, driving to work in the freezing conditions and up on the hills when I am out walking with the family. Its goretex outer keeps the rain off the head, the peak of the cap keeps the rain and snow out of my eyes and the fleece inner keeps my head and more importantly my ears toasty warm. And at the current price it is probably one of the best bargains you will find on the internet. Well done GO Outdoors, an excellent product.

I have been thinking about buying one of these for years. When I recently bought one at Go Outdoors, because it was such a good deal, I was not disappointed. I wore it in heavy snow around town today (-8 deg C). My ears were warm, the adjustable peak ideal, different sizes (bliss - I have a small head), and my head dry. BUY IT.

yep great little hat.. very warm with the fleece liner, and the fact that the sides have a cinch cord means that it can close tightly over the side of your face and your ears. The windproof aspect means that it keeps your ears warm in cold wintery winds too.
due to the waterproof liner though, If your head runs hot though, it can get a little sweaty as its not quite as breathable as a non water proof hat..but overall a great winter hat.

A great hat for the snow, 20 December 2010
By toooldforthis (Wolverhampton)
The present weather has caused chaos in Britain, but this reviewer has been toasty and warm. Having had plenty of chances to try this out having snowball fights with the children, I can report that this cap provides a snug fit and insulates very well. No snow has wet through the cap, however, I haven't had a chance to get it really wet yet, but so far so good.
I've deducted one star as it's quite a noisy hat that rustles as you move - noticeably more so than a wool hat, but all in all - impressed so far.
Excellent piece of kit!., 18 December 2010

Was recommended this cap by the salesman and was on special offer. Worn it on a very wet and cold 3 day walking trip down the North Yorkshire Coast in November, kept my head and ears cosy and dry.

This is what I have been looking for for a long time for those colds winter dog walks. It is warm, waterproof and has just enough peak to keep the rain from your eyes without being too obtrusive and the ear covers can be tightened at the pull of a toggle so that when it is very windy you are still snug as a bug! Really, really happy and just about to buy another for a friend.
