Good enough!, 17 August 2011
By Bullet (Bristol)
I suspect the design may have changed from the earlier reviews, certainly we had no issues with it bending or the head coming loose. The ONLY beef I have is that the rubber head itself is not the best quality and the edges broke up a bit. But hey, it's good enough for the task, and will certainly last several trips!

Perfect - don't know what else you need in a mallet, 15 July 2011
By Anne (Coventry)
I bought this mallet as the price was great and I was starting out on camping so needed to buy the whole lot, quite pricey as I'm sure you're aware.

But hey this mallet does everything I need it too, don't really know what else anyone would need... although if your hiking with your tent it might be a bit heavy, but otherwise for all the car campers it's great.

Nice and cheap . . . but, 25 June 2011
By APJ (Gloucestershire)
At first glance this looks like a sturdy mallet - rubberised grip, metal shaft, large rubber head. It seemed to work well on our first outing trip, but after a banging in a few tricky pegs, it started to show it's limitations. Rather annoyingly, the rubber head now swivels on the shaft making it harder to land the perfect blow on those perky groundpegs. As a cheap mallet, it just about does the job, but I ended up buying an Outwell at twice the price, but its at least 3 times better.

Cheap Mallet, 10 June 2011
By Andy P (Cheshire)
This is a cheap mallet and you get what you pay for. After one use the head came lose, its still useable, but have now bought a better quality one.

Poor quality, 24 August 2010
By Not impressed
We used this mallet for 2 camping trips, and are very disappointed by its quality. The metal shaft bent, then snapped right at the top where it meets the head. Seems like a good deal as it's cheap, but spend a couple more pounds and get a better quality one.

Hi Gear Rubber 19 oz Camping Mallet Reviews, 23 August 2010
By Happy Camper
On only our 2nd camping trip using this mallet it snapped in half as the the metal shaft is hollow and couldn't handle hard soil. Spend a couple quid more and buy the solid rubber mallet instead.

A present for the wife...., 15 July 2010
By Paul-D. (Ayrshire)
This was bought for the Mrs to allow her to help me pitch our 8-man tent....she thought I was joking too!!!
It proved a great wee tool and was well up to the task of battering in the umpteen tent pegs....methinks the wife was imagining my head as the pegs, as she hit them with a fair whack. Perhaps I should take it off her in future....

Solid, sturdy, bargain!, 23 February 2010
By Joja (Yorkshire)
"I dont need one of those" said my husband. I bought one anyway and thank goodness I did. Not 5 minutes into the assembly of out tent guess what? Someone was having troouble getting the pegs in the ground. Cue my trusty rubber mallett... Does what it says on the tin, does it well, absolutely no problems. Well worth the bargain price.... maybe he will listen next time!
